Two Whitefish Bay High School students have won first prize for the documentary they submitted in C-SPAN's national 2018 StudentCam competition. Will Foote and James Dyer will receive $3,000 for their documentary "WI Votes Count?", which focuses on gerrymandering and the 14th Amendment Equal Protection Clause. The documentary is scheduled to be aired on C-SPAN and throughout the day April 20, according to a news release from C-SPAN. Fellow Whitefish Bay students Patricia Mathu, Emma Mitchell and Jong Jung were third-prize winners and will receive $750 for their documentary "Neither Snow Nor Rain" about the Postal Clause.
Dyer said he and Foote were excited upon hearing the news, as both learned of it on TV during a recent morning before school.
"We have AP Government first hour, so it was really cool going into school and the whole class and celebrating together mine and Will's win along with our classmates' Jong, Emma and Tricia, and it was a really cool experience," Dyer said.
Since 2006, C-SPAN partners with local cable television providers in communities across the nation to invite middle school and high school students to produce short documentaries in teams or individually about a nationally important subject. This year's theme was "The Constitution & You: Choose a provision of the U.S. Constitution and create a video illustration why it's important to you."
Videos were evaluated by a panel of educators and C-SPAN representatives based on the examination of the competition's theme, quality of expression, inclusion of varying sides of the documentary's topic and effective incorporation of C-SPAN programming, according to the news release from C-SPAN.

Yes! that link works!
Whitefish Bay, didn’t the Big Fitz sink near there?
“The searchers all say they’d have made Whitefish Bay
If they’d put fifteen more miles behind her”
They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
Yep!
