U.S. Supreme Court again rejects Rod Blagojevich appeal

The Supreme Court has for the second time rejected an appeal by imprisoned former Gov. Rod Blagojevich of his convictions on corruption charges.

The justices did not comment Monday in letting stand the convictions and 14-year prison term that Blagojevich is serving. He's scheduled to be released in 2024.

Blagojevich's lawyers had wanted the high court to take up his case to make clear what constitutes illegal political fundraising. They argued that politicians are vulnerable to prosecution because the line between what's allowed and what's illegal is blurry.

His convictions included trying to extort a children's hospital for contributions and seeking to trade an appointment to the Senate seat Barack Obama vacated when he was elected president for campaign cash.

Not enjoying all the 'attention' your cellmate is giving you, huh Rod?

That's by design. So they can go after Republicans with the same laws that let Democrats slide.

His problem was that he tried to use the same laws the bigwigs use, but he is not one of them.

I’m waiting for his appeal to be based on he either shut up and did the time or suffered from an unfortunate Obama accident. But, of course that would result in an unfortunate Obama accident. Nasty catch 22.

No!
Forget about it, it’s Chicago.
Let him go.

Comey may have recommended a traffic citation, had this been Clinton.
Maybe.

Don’t care for the guy, and don’t want to waste any tax dollars feeding him.

Do an image search and see what his hair looks like now! Not nearly as dramatic a change as Phil Spector, but remarkable nonetheless.

Just want him to say everything he knows about Obama, Rezco and money. Then he can go home. I would be happy with that.

What is he waiting for, a better book deal?

Maybe Hillary has a contract on him of he talks.

They argued that politicians are vulnerable to prosecution because the line between what's allowed and what's illegal is blurry.

However blurry that line may be, Rod Blagojevich crossed far enough over it to have been in "crystal-clear" territory.

The a$$hole was one of the shining lights of the gun control lobby for a time. Rarely a week went by without some fresh diatribe from him against out God give right to keep and bear arms. If he died in prison it would bring a warm smile to my face.

His problem was that he tried to use the same laws the bigwigs use, but he is not one of them.

His problem was that he was a big fish in a small pond (governor of Illinois), and he became the fall guy for the small fish who was moving up to the big pond (Obama).

Based on what we know now about Obama's truthfulness, I have no doubt that Blagojevich was the bagman for Obama, each to get their cut of the take. When the whole thing blew open, the big fish in the big pond were not going to let Obama go down, so it was Blago who took the fall, with Jesse Jackson, Jr. as collateral damage.

Poor Blago (no, I don’t really feel sorry for him)

BUT if he talks, the DNC/Hillary/Bill/Obama Murder Inc. will get to him. IN prison or OUT of prison. He’ll be dead in no time at all.

So he has to just sit there and take it.

Frankly, I’m surprised Obama didn’t pardon him.

So TALK, Blago, TALK. Of course, after that, he wouldn’t be safe in solitary confinement.

Actually (and you got around to it) Blago was small fry as was Rezko. They were tools.

There was a plan for Obama and obviously some big fish behind it. That’s why this obvious fraud was basically untouched.

They were just useful idiots, tossed aside for expediency’s sake, for the coronation and “official story / narrative” for the Kenyan.

They might as well talk. Because the mere CHANCE that they MIGHT TALK is enough for “the accidents” to happen.

An interesting side-effect was that because Jesse Jackson Jr. was disgraced, his father was, too. This led to the rise of Al Sharpton's influence in the Obama administration.
