I think some tuition dinero from the parents should be required so Little Johnny and his producers have an incentive to behave and perform.

I suspect tuition dinero is the true performance tool of private schools.

Wish it were true.

Unfortunately a good portion of that 13K is to fund retirements of the teachers and staffs. I think actually that all public retirements should be rolled into SS.

Remember a town in Maine, Raymond, went to the Supreme Court to prevent their tax dollars from going to unapproved schools, Christian in the lawsuit.

Unfortunately true and the sad part is that it only will get worse. As hard as Trump my try, and I certainly give him lot of credit for trying, it is nothing more than slowing down the descent into the abyss of socialism. There will be no changes until this country will either bottom out or some unexpected event may cause people to rethink what had gone wrong. That is in the nature of humans, with most of them taking the path of least resistance and invariably and in the long run it never ends well.

I wrote about this idea back in 2011 on EdWeek as guest author on Rick Hess’ blog: http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/rick_hess_straight_up/2011/08/teacher_pay.html

They went nutty.

Nonsense!

If an alien ship hovered over America and sucked up every government school what would happen.

There would be chaos for about a month.

Within the month the Kindcares, Karate studios, ice skate programs, community theaters, Kiwanis clubs, would have hired teachers. Dame schools run by homeschoolers would open **immediately**! Ambitious teachers would quickly organize themselves in the pattern of professional law firms and rent space to teach and tutor all grade levels.

There is **one** exception!

Mormons would have schools open on Monday!

Re: Choice to a liberal...Abortion

The liberal/Prog/Marxist thinks a 12 year old is capable of finding a competent abortions and managing any medical or surgical complications.

But....Her parents are too stupid to use a voucher wisely.

Your friends in Maine hate their kids so much that they won’t even try?

How pathetic.

After seeing the comments I’m getting, I see why you stopped pushing it.

I think the concept of a kiddie kennel, someplace to dump the kids for the day, is more important than a quality education to most of the posters here.

Believe me, I haven’t give up, and I hope you won’t, either. Our school systems have rendered themselves useless, serving, like you say, as a very expensive way to keep our kids occupied.

I’d add that our schools are also employment agencies.

Public schools are homes for pedophiles.

My friends are in their eighties with no kids or grand kids. They would have moved from Maine long ago if they had. It is almost as bad as California or Illinois to raise kids as far as education goes. There is also plenty of Marijuana to go around also.
