Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., says he believes a majority of the public doubts the official U.S. government contention that Syrian President Bashar Assad used chemical gas against the final rebel-held town near Damascus.
“Anybody who has tried to explain to me why Assad would do this sounds like a conspiracy theorist,” said Massie, a libertarian Republican from Kentucky. “It requires really contorted thinking to think Assad did this. You have to come up with very complicated reasons.”
“I cannot think of a reason he would,” Massie said.

A majority of the public doesn’t have access to the same intelligence reports and analysis that the POTUS does.
While I’m not thrilled at the thought of it, I have to give the President the benefit of the doubt that he knows more about it than I do.

I was sort of our of sorts about it; however, after using my brain rather than feelings and emotions, I determined that I was NOT the Commander in Chief and had no idea as to reasons for the attack. I trust President Trump.
I’m with Maddie on this. Of course, people get irritated that REASONABLE people disagree with them on this issue. It’s a sad day, IMHO.

I believe we should stop making corn into fuel. We should make whiskey and send it to the Mid East. Along with the whiskey we should send rocks. When those in each faction/tribe/regional identification get drunk they can kill each other in rock fights. We can bring our troops home, we don t crap up the area with radiation, and the world has to acknowledge we are really friendly people. Is whiskey chemical warfare?

The reason is simple. Assad can only maintain power long-term if he holds the non-alawite population of Syria in abject terror. Chem weapons are the only real way of doing that.
