Kansas Asks Supreme Court to Let It Defund Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

Kansas leaders appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court this week to allow it to defund the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.

The move comes a few weeks after the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals said Kansas cannot defund Planned Parenthood, despite an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into its aborted baby body parts trade.

“Kansas is a Pro-Life state, and Kansans don’t want state dollars being used to support abortion providers,” Gov. Jeff Colyer told KCUR News. “The medical needs of Kansas women will continue to be met by other providers in the Medicaid and KanCare network. We want the Supreme Court to weigh in on this issue, and we look forward to the outcome.”

While the 10th Circuit ruled against the state effort, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a similar effort by Arkansas to defund the abortion chain in 2017. Because of the circuit split, the high court may take up the case.

High Plains Public Radio reports more:

Kansas cited three grounds for its decision: video evidence purporting to show that other Planned Parenthood affiliates entered into illegal agreements to procure fetal tissue after abortions; an alleged failure to comply with solid waste disposal inspections; and concerns over Medicaid claims submitted by other Planned Parenthood affiliates in neighboring states.

The highly edited video by an anti-abortion group was largely discredited and concerned the national Planned Parenthood organization, not the Kansas- and Missouri-based affiliates. But in his petition to the Supreme Court, Anderson argues that there are “substantial links” between the parent and its affiliates.

“Given the ties between the national and local offices, the Kansas Department of Health Environment (KDHE) viewed the 2014 videos as potential evidence of illegal activity by two providers, PPGP and PPSLR,” the petition states, referring to Planned Parenthood Great Plains and Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri.

A Kansas Planned Parenthood spokesman criticized the latest move, saying, “Kansas should focus on increasing access to the basic health care services that we provide, not on stripping away that critical care from the most vulnerable Kansans,” the Daily Caller reports.

The abortion chain also previously claimed the state’s actions were “baseless and politically motivated.”

However, pro-life advocates said the state should be allowed to defund a group under investigation for illegal activity.

Kansans for Life previously said: “We oppose any public money that helps the abortion giant Planned Parenthood stay open. Planned Parenthood is not the trusted health-care provider they like to call themselves – everything they do is poisoned by their abortion business and advocacy.”

In early December, news broke that the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating allegations that Planned Parenthood illegally profited from the sales of aborted baby body parts.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion group in America, destroying about 320,000 unborn babies’ lives every year.

Why ask, California doesn’t.

Because Colyer will be running for the Republican nomination for governor against Kobach, and it never hurts to be visibly opposed to Planned Parenthood.

The feds should not force any state to spend state funds in a way that the state opposes.

Our local media outlets are going to go ballistic if this happens. The way they memorialized the “martyred”, Dr George Tiller, tells you all you need to know about them. I’m getting the popcorn ready, LOL.

Someone should bring up the “racist” nature of abortion. More black babies are aborted that whites (tossing this out, don’t have a statistic).

And then mention the number of black babies that were aborted since its inception. That should cause them to deadlock.

Yes, why the hell ask? Just do it. Abortion is a bogus “right” the SC discovered in the penumbras of the Constitution. That ruling didn’t say we have to pay for the abomination.

I agree, so why is the state’s argument not simply 10th amendment? Why is a criminal activity necessary for a state to deny funds?

Thank you for referencing that article Morgana. As usual, please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"We want the Supreme Court to weigh in on this issue, and we look forward to the outcome."

Noting that no sovereign state in our constitutional republic should have to ask the Supremes for their "expert" advice on such an issue imo, please consider the following from related threads.

Patriots are reminded that, in stark contrast to the rights that the Founding States expressly protected when they amended the famous Bill of Rights to the Constitution, the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect the politically correct right to have an abortion.

So where did the so-called "right" to have an abortion come from?

Consider that institutionally indoctrinated, state sovereignty-ignoring Supreme Court justices wrongly breached the Founding States' division of federal and state powers, first stealing state powers and then abusing those powers by politically “amending" the fictitious right to have an abortion to the Constitution.

This is why post-17th Amendment (17A) ratification, uniparty Democrats and RINOs fight tooth-and-nail to keep a pro-abortion activist justice majority on the Supreme Court imo. By doing so, activist justices are able to keep the politically correct “right” to have an abortion alive.

Because by keeping the politically correct abortion "right" alive, uniparty Democrats and RINOs can keep exploiting low-information women by providing such women with unconstitutional federal funding for abortion in exchange for their votes, election after election.

In fact, blind leading the blind career Democrats and RINOs have foolishly helped to murder enough babies that they’ve seriously shrunken their voting pool to the extent, evidenced by Hillary losing the presidential race, that they have resorted to trying to enlarging their voting pool with illegal votes from illegal aliens, deceased people and their pets.

Corrections, insights welcome.

This is why patriots must finish the job that they started when they elected Trump president.

More specifically, patriots must now be making sure that there are plenty of Trump-supporting, pro-life candidates on the 2018 primary ballots who will commit to impeaching and removing pro-abortion activist Supreme Court justices from the bench, and pink-slip career lawmakers by sending patriot candidate lawmakers to DC on election day.

And until the states wake up and repeal the ill-conceived 17A, as evidenced by concerns about the integrity of the outcome of Alabama's and Pennsylvania's special elections, patriot candidates need to win elections by a large enough margin to compensate for possible deep state ballot box fraud and associated MSM scare tactics.
