Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Day rally Monday, March 26th at the Capitol

The Oklahoma Second Amendment Association will hold a 2nd Amendment Day rally Monday, March 26th.

Be at the Oklahoma State Capitol for the rally of the year. We will meet at noon on the 4th floor Rotunda to let our legislators know we want our rights back that should have NEVER been taken away.

We will meet at noon on the 4th floor Rotunda to let our legislators know we want our rights back that should have NEVER been taken away.

Remember, we must speak to these legislators respectfully. We can be assertive and respectful at the same time. Raising our voices and allowing anyone to pull us into a shouting match is counterproductive. We need to let the opposition allow their emotions to get out of control while we stand our ground with facts, logic, historical precedents, etc. We have liberty, truth, and facts on our side so we have the advantage!

Even though this is a weekday event, and it can be difficult for some on our side of this issue to get time off work (we're not being paid to take the day off and travel to the capitol like some others we know about), we do hope to have a strong showing to counter the other group we already know will be there.

Join us if you can!

I agree but I think the all the gun rights groups should put something together for a major 2a support rally, but they won’t they are afraid of more attention.

Poor planning.

I disagree. The Capitol is closed on the weekend, and we want the legislators to see us and we want to talk to them. Also, and for the same reasons, March for Our Lives is planning an event there the same day. We don't want them to be the only presence on the issue. Thus, we do what we must.

The preservation of our rights is worth a little inconvenience, don't you think?

MONDAY? When most 2nd-Amendment people WORK? No wonder the Demonrats win every public battle. They know how to organize. You do these things on a SATURDAY.

Also, I guarantee there won't be buses paid for by everybody from sports teams to the media to actors to billionaires trucking bodies in for this event.

Yes, you are indeed correct, and you are correct that "there won't be buses paid for by everybody from sports teams to the media to actors to billionaires trucking bodies in for this event."

However, as I explained above, the Capitol is closed on weekends, and we want to have our legislators see us and talk to us. Also, the March for Our Lives crowd is also planning on being on site tomorrow, and we want to make sure they are not the only ones.

If we had thee media coverage and momentum that the other side has, we might have been able to do things differently. However, the reality is that, as you know, the other side is well organized, very well funded, and very supported by the media.

If you can’t figure out how to take some time from work to protect your liberty, then you don’t deserve that liberty.

Monday at noon? Yeah, I'm sure there's going to be quite a turnout. I can't wait to see the photos on DU and Huffington of all six elderly retirees at a pro-gun demonstration.

There were massive rallies all over the world yesterday. The pro-2A people needed to be at those carrying signs.

Can the school kids attend or would they be expelled? We all know the answer to that due to the double standards of today.

Get real. This rally is going to be a PR disaster when a half dozen geriatric retirees show up.

What was wrong with yesterday? Seemed I read about a few marches going on. And yes, I wasn't at them either. But I should've been. We all should've been.

Remember, we must speak to these legislators respectfully.

Why? Leftists seem to get nothing but fawning, groveling subservience from legislators, and all they do is scream at them.

Let the puke politicians earn our respect, by serving our interests for a change.

Wow. Here we are, playing the cards we are dealt (we organized this in just a week after we found out that the opposition will be on site), and I have seen many people state that they are taking the day off work, and driving themselves to the capitol to participate. Scoff all ya want Drew, but tell me this: what did YOU to to stand up for your rights?

Apparently, in your quickness to scoff, criticize and offer nothing positive, you missed my explanation about the timing and our reasons for attending. I guess I expected better of Freepers.

Not yet legal for us serfs to carry open or concealed inside the Capitol.

Remember, we must speak to these legislators respectfully.

Why?

My experience is that the media will try to interview someone they can equate to the expected stereotypes as some have postulated on above - someone in camo, or someone with poor command of the language, or anyone they can try to use to reflect poorly on us and our cause. So, we want to be polite, have a good command of the facts, and let the other side be rude and disorderly. That's why.

Plus, I know my state Representative and my state Senator. They are on our side, and poor behavior reflects poorly on my, our group, our cause and my congressmen.

The media will never respect us, no matter how polite we are, or how well we speak to the issues. Interviews of the type you describe, all wind up on the cutting room floor.

If they cover this rally at all, they’ll only do so to paint the ugliest picture possible, and to further their leftist agenda.

Follow the President’s lead. Call them what they are to their faces. They’re going to hate us no matter what we say, so we might as well tell them how we really feel.

They want a war - they got one.

Just so you know, we had at least 120 members check in, and an unknown number of passers-by that sat down to listen and engage in conversation. Not bad, really, considering it was a work day for all of us.

Seems your prediction was on the low side. Are you willing to admit that you were wrong?

At least you could acknowledge that your prediction was inaccurate...
