President Trump said Thursday that he wants to sit for an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller’s team, which is investigating Russian election meddling and possible collusion with his campaign.
“Yes. I would like to. I would like to,” he said in response to a reporter’s question during a White House event announcing tariffs on China.
Team Trump has ping-ponged about whether the president would agree to an interview.
The president in the past has said he would like to, but has also called for Mueller’s probe to be shut down, as has his ex-lawyer John Dowd, who quit on Thursday.

The ground rules for the interview should be that 1)it’s live and 2)televised, and 3)Joseph diGenova is sitting by Trumps side.
Trump is bringing some interesting photographs of Mueller with him.
Trump wants a “sit down” with Mueller. That conversation should be interesting.
I think President Trump’s ego could get the best of him on this one. I agree with Rush, President Trump thinks he can sit down with Mueller, find common ground, and get this thing resolved. It appears that President Trump thinks Mueller doesn’t know the dossier was just a setup. Unfortunately, not only does Mueller know, he was pulling for it to work.
This has the feel of the scorpion and the frog, Mueller being the scorpion. It’s just in his nature.
One of Trump’s weaknesses is that he thinks he can talk his way through anything. Mueller is a hired bureaucratic assassin. No answer from Trump will be adequate. It doesn’t matter if it is Russia or anything else. Mueller intends to destroy Trump by any means necessary.

After Mueller walks in, announce it is a tv/press conference and ask him very specific questions designed to reveal his bias, ineptitude and likely criminal conduct.
Give the public a few days to think about it and then fire his ass.
I had hoped earlier that Trump would agree to be interviewed by Mueller with such conditions, now he should just refer to it as an employee performance assessment.

Good morning, I just came to tell you that I did not collude with Russia over the election, and if you’d like to ask me that question again, I’ll give you the same answer ... and if you ask any other questions about my business dealings before the campaign or anything like that, my answer is - that’s beyond the scope of your investigation. Okay, so are we done here?

Donald Trump didn't hire a honey badger like Joe DiGenova just so he could sit down and have an amicable conversation with Robert Mueller.
