President Donald Trump plans to name Larry Kudlow as his top economic advisor, sources told CNBC. Trump could announce his decision to choose Kudlow as his National Economic Council director as soon as Thursday. The president offered the economist and senior CNBC contributor the job on Tuesday night, and Kudlow accepted, a person familiar with the matter told CNBC. Kudlow, 70, would replace Gary Cohn, who resigned last week after losing his fight against tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. Kudlow advocates for free trade and generally opposes tariffs.

When Cohn left, Kudlow expressed his disappointment with the move. On Tuesday, the president said he would welcome disagreement from Kudlow if he chose him for the post.

What this administration needs is more TV talking heads and fewer people with any understanding of classical economics. I approve of this choice.

I am 100% for completely free trade. As long as it does not cut into our critical national defense production. And as long as it is fair trade. I used to work for Uncle Sugar (Sam) overseas and saw first hand, and repeatedly, how our good trading partners constantly screwed us.

We are the world’s trading bitch. They pass us around. They all laugh at us. It needs to end.

Kudlow is opposed to tariffs.

I am in favor of tariffs, but I’m glad that President Trump is going to have an honest opposition advising him.

Kudlow was responsible for economic policy under Ronald Regan.

I am sure that Kudlow will tailor his free trade BS with fair trade and any globalist leanings will be thrown out or HE WILL BE THROWN OUT!

Like Larry and happy with him. Like many, I differ with him on tariffs as the President is correct about free and fair trade.

It is quiet obvious that you march to the drum of President Trump and HIS desires or out you go!! No one is too big to fail in his eyes and I totally agree with that........;)

Kudlow is a self describe “classic liberal.”

Is Kudlow a good fit in the Trump Administration? I get the feeling that he means well, but I’m not sure if it is a good fit. Kudlow might be a pragmatic fit if that’s what POTUS is going for, or perhaps he invites stimulating conversation and debate in the administration however, it might not work out as imagined.
