DKS 0.98% said its decision to no longer sell guns to anyone under 21 years old has hurt traffic and retail sales as the move upset some customers and exacerbated headwinds to its hunting and gun business. ... “Some of those customers that buy firearms, buy other things also,” Dick’s Chief Executive Edward Stack told analysts on a conference call. “There are just going to be some people who just don’t shop us anymore for anything.” ... You can still buy a gun if youare under 21 at Cabela’s - because they aren’t dicks.
And some of those customers are now taking all of their business somewhere else.
They cater to the Subara/ kayak/ lesbian/ soccer mom crowd here in Minneapolis.
Mr. Stack has not heard from all his formerly loyal customers, like yours truly for example.
Lots of baseball related purchases ordered online have yet to be delivered. When they are, they will be promptly returned along with a very frank letter as to why.
I guess guns and Dicks do not mix.
