The Florida House gave final legislative approval Wednesday to a bill banning gun sales to anyone under 21, sending the measure to Gov. Rick Scott, who has not said whether he will sign it into law. More significantly, there is serious consideration in Congress of a similar national ban.

On top of this, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Walmart, L.L. Bean and Kroger have all moved to discontinue gun sales to anyone under age 21.

A little late to the party. Scott signed it into law.

This is such BS we shouldn’t even be discussing it. We are looking at stopping a KILLER ... KILL!!! ... anybody who is contemplating that isn’t going to give TWO HOOTS about how he acquires the weapon to do it ... even KILLING a 21+ year old person who has one. You aren’t going to stop a KILLER with a bunch of “feel good” laws.

The point is not to stop killers.

The point is most of us dead, the rest in chains.

Confused I be. Article after article states “raising age to purchase guns to 21”, yet people are talking about age of possession being 21. What is it?

IOW can responsible Dad still buy his ten year old a .22, and train him/her in the responsible handling of a weapon, or not? Or maybe responsible Dad can buy a weapon for his 20 year old kid, and responsibly teach him how to handle such a weapon. What is it?

It banned the sale, not possession.

“You aren’t going to stop a KILLER with a bunch of “feel good” laws.”

That’s pretty much it. The nut job in question was known to be a dangerous nut job. The local cop shop did nothing to stop the shootings when in progress. And I think the FBI was aware this guy was a problem.

The problem is the system we have in place. Just think of what a farce this shooting makes out of gun free zones.

So now they are raising the “legal” gun age to 21. OK, so any law abiding kid will not have a gun. That’s not stopping the criminal or nut job.

What happens when this law is made into a farce?

I like how they put an exception for law enforcement.

I guess those 18-20-year-olds are responsible enough, huh?

They will pass another law to deal with that situation, once again ignoring the elephant in the room.

Agreed. A father, buying a .22 for his
under 21 aged son would amount to a
straw purchase. And with that under
aged 21 son, to be in possession,
would be another crime. There should
be no age limit. I bought my first
rifle at 12 years old without my
father pitching in a single dime.
I had to work and save to buy it.

I was buying my own firearms at 20 and I wasn’t a kid.

“So now they are raising the “legal” gun age to 21.”.......

Sooner or later the age will be raised to 130 years of age. They aren’t going to prevent people from owning, possessing or purchasing guns, just everyone under age of 130. (sarc)

What is interesting about this is that someone who is 17 or 18 in the armed services is issued a rifle to use while his civilian counterpart has to be 21.

if this law stopped anyone between 40 & 42 from buying a gun, it would deprive them of their rights.

why is this law any different?

The law is unconstitutional - my comment was intended as snark - liberals over reach then keep coming back until they get something that conservatives will accept.
Then they manufacture or co opt another tragedy, for another bite- before you know it they have the have most people on there side, and they grab the guns.

This did nothing to prevent ANYTHING in this instance or any previous that I can think of. If killing is in the heart of a depraved, mentally ill, psychopath, He/She will kill.

I do not like as a model everything Israel does, but in regards to security, they do it right. I suspect it will make libtards pee their pants and many Republicans spineless implementing anything that actually works.
