I have never heard of this Kal Penn character.
He’s an actor who plays the WH press secretary on the TV show Designated Communist thus he thinks he’s a “player.”
On January 2, 2017, Penn won the “MasterChef Celebrity Showdown” and donated the entire $25,000 cash prize to Palestinian Refugees.

Kal Penn is, shall we say, Obama’s type. Southeastern Asian origin, American actor who loves men. Obama apparently ordered him right off the tv like a pizza. Boom. The actor was summoned to the White House where he was given an honorary job in the West Wing with the Preezy, something like Special Presidential Liaison to Hollywood. Once the few months long Liaison had run its inevitable course, Mr. Penn was “mugged” on the streets of DC. And had his cell phone taken, nothing else. Almost as if maybe he may have had photos or texts that might have been unseemly.
I think his middle name is “Get in the boxcar”.
