I Fell in Love With the Cannabis Candidate. Then I Got Burned.
The Chicago Reader ^ | March 8, 2018 | Hunter Stuart

In media interviews and on his social media pages, Wolf said he was a "former FBI agent" and "Iraq Veteran" who had also worked overseas as a "presidential envoy" with the U.S. State Department.

He also claimed to be a "Professor of Human Rights" at Roosevelt University.

I'm a cannabis supporter, and it was great seeing a former law enforcement guy embrace it so openly. I especially liked that Wolf spoke of the need not just to legalize it but to destigmatize it. I felt like he was someone that could represent my interests in the nation's capital as soon as next year.

But then I started getting Twitter messages telling me to look into Wolf's background.

Roosevelt University deleted his faculty page. "He's never been a professor here," a spokeswoman told me when I called to ask why. "He tutored one student for a little while in 2016, that's it."

As to whether he ever served in the U.S. military, he blamed a campaign staffer for language in a press release saying he was an "Iraq veteran" and was "deployed" there.

As stories of Wolf's lies exploded in the media Wednesday, my disillusionment was complete. Mustafa issued a statement Wednesday calling Wolf a "liar with a history of violence" and saying he can't be trusted.

The “Cannabis Candidate” doesn’t seem to be able to deal with reality.

Who the hell is a “cannabis supporter” as their main political identity?

As much as I see the problems of the “war on drugs” - there is NO ONE whose life has been made better by recreational use of marijuana (please don’t come back with stories about your uncle’s glaucoma, I said “recreational”). Its only a question is how bad are the consequences.

I read “cannibal” candidate. It did not even phase me as I believe a Democrat can come out and claim to be a practicing cannibal and we are all “racist” for judging them.

Then I saw it was “cannabis” and just yawned and thought what else is new from the left.

I have personal knowledge of a very talented musician — once with international stature — who basically fried his brain with drugs, and who is now a nobody who can't carry on a conversation.

Pot wasn't the only drug he abused, but it was certainly one of them, and the one he started with.

If it wasn't for drugs, this individual might well have been the conductor of the Boston Pops; John Williams borrowed musically from him.

As long as there is a “D” next to their name, I guarantee the leftist Liberals will pull that handle, punch that chad or select that option on their computer screen for that candidate - everything else be damned! GUARANTEE!

I completely agree. I know people who essentially scrambled their brains due to drug use and it all began with marijuana which is truly a “gateway” or “steppingstone” drug.

Proponents of legalization NEVER want to address the scientific reality that human brains develop until about the age of twenty-six. High school burnouts are potentially doing irreparable damage to themselves. Likewise, not every smoker is mellow. A subset of potheads can become argumentative and violent.

I know firsthand of former honor students who cannot engage in rational conversations after years of abusing marijuana and drugs. For all of the Haight-Asbury fans, today’s marijuana is far more potent than anything smoked at Woodstock.

“Sounds like the perfect democrat candidate.”

Sounds like he’s only a doctored birth certificate away from millions of campaign dollars for President.

Of course, it is a Democratic primary election, so all of the voters are likely to be Democrats.

Easy. Recreational moderated marijuana edible use is waaaaaaaay better on the body than recreational alcohol use.
