But the BATFE, the FBI, and Broward County Sheriff couldn’t have that. No kook, no gun, no mass murder, no basis for nationwide gun confiscation. They had to ensure this kid did the deed.

Yep, most people with an inkling of knowledge, know that it’s just an excuse to move the confiscation agenda forward.

"“He was roaming the hallways with a .25 caliber automatic,” said Tony Montana,..."

That's huge, man.

The guy (who I’ll agree sounds a bit looney-tunes) had been doing this for awhile. While I agree that he shouldn’t have the gun,

If the guy’s been doing this ‘for awhile’ what gives cause to disarm the man, let alone ‘shouldn’t have the gun’??

‘Odd’ behavior? Methinks if he was going to go off the deep-end he’d have had ample opportunity already.

Not a slippery slope, it’s a f* water slide.

This is confiscation folks, pure and simple. This is going to get worse and will eventually turn violent. I don't know the situation but It really does not matter how this guy was acting. If he did not break any laws there is no justification for taking his firearm and doing so is an unconstitutional and illegal confiscation.

For many years I have opposed the NRA and pro gun position of just "enforce the gun laws on the books". I have always maintained if we actually did that pro gun people would realize we lost our second amendment rights a long time ago. I do not want ANY gun laws enforced. Every gun law on the books anywhere is unconstitutional. This simply can't be argued. There are no qualifiers for 2nd amendment rights. Even convicted felons should be able to own a firearm just like anyone else once their sentence has been served and they have paid their dept to society.

We should have been more careful about what we wished for cause we are about to get just that and it's not going to be pretty.

The article is missing some facts. People should be more concerned about exactly what the related statute says.

From reading the various articles....he's a nut!

Behavior suggests paranoid schizophrenia.

He's a danger to the public. But notice he got no mental help, just had the gun taken.
Probably read about him driving a car through one of those shop windows that he was staring through.

Still, this is setting dangerous precedents.

I wouldn’t trust Washington (state) to resist the temptation to go full Soviet with ERPOs.

Terrifying. Five years from now it’ll be decreed officially that conservativism is a mental disorder. We knew it was coming.

I’ll say it again: I’m glad I’m old.

If this guy committed assault it isn’t apparent from anything in this article.

Agreed. Not definitive. Somewhat assumed he committed possible assault.

The article is at fault for that if there are other extenuating circumstances.

However, if he did commit some violation of the law, and during the process of contacting him about that the LEOs had reason to question his mental fitness, I believe there would have been legal justification to put him on a hold for mental evaluation. Also possibly an arrest. All without this erpo nonsense.

That is one of the galling things about Nikolas Cruz. There must have been several occasions in the 39 local LE contacts to use existing law to hold him for a mental eval and/or arrest him.

The gun-grabbers think confiscating guns and leaving the mental case on the streets solves everything. In FL it sure would have been a lot better to lock Cruz up and leave the guns in the house.
