ANNOY A LEFTIST, SEE WILLIS’ ‘DEATH WISH’ REMAKE (TWICE)
Hollywood in Toto ^ | 2 Mar 2018 | Christian Toto

This gut punch of a remake will drive SJWs crazy. That's just one of many reasons to see Eli Roth's latest.

You won’t see a more subversive film all year than Eli Roth’s “Death Wish.”

How can a remake of the 1974 vigilante classic be so bold? It’s simple. The remake doesn’t tinker with the vigilante formula beyond concessions to our digital age. No hand wringing, no attempts to bring social justice to the classic tale.

The very last word you’d use to describe the new “Death Wish” is “woke.”

The film goes much further, though. It gives a long, wet raspberry to the scourge that is political correctness. Take away the ideological dustups, and you’re left with a premium crowd pleaser with a kiss of ’80s action thrown in.

In general my enjoyment of a movie is inversely proportional to its hype, and exponentionally inversely proportional to its reviews by the elite. Also if dems hate it, I am almost guaranteed to love it

The noteworthy thing about this film is that 44 years after the Bronson classic, the conditions that sent Paul Kersey over the edge, namely rampant urban crime and lawlessness still exist or are arguably worse .

Hollywood never treats using racial slurs as OK. Nor denigrating Jews. Nor denigrating Buddhism. Nor Islam.

But Hollywood practically makes it mandatory to use the name of Jesus as a pejorative word. To Hollywood, Jesus, the name above all other names, is a curse word to use derisively.

Death Wish is no different (7 times):

http://www.pluggedin.com/movie-reviews/death-wish-2018

Often even the heroes of Hollywood films use God’s title combined with the d-word, and also use Jesus’ name to curse.

Rarely is Christ honored in Hollywood films.

If people who claim to be Christians would refuse to patronize films that dishonor Christ, Hollywood would quit doing it. Alas, the world is full of Kardashian Christians, who might as well be Christian Satan worshippers.

Exodus 20:7
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

A true follower of Christ is someone who continues to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus. And those who abuse the name of Jesus are not His followers:

1 Corinthians 1:2
To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours.

1 Corinthians 12:3
Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

What's interesting is that Paul Kersey is a gentle, liberal soul who wouldn't hurt a fly.

I KNOW it is Charles Bronson, but even the guy (actor) himself I'm sure was on the left of the spectrum.

I think it was an "answer" to Dirty Harry, who didn't give a $hit, with regards to victims rights.

He just wanted justice, however he could find it

“What’s interesting is that Paul Kersey is a gentle, liberal soul who wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

I didn’t even know that Death Wish was based on a real person.

I frequently check to see what kind of content new releases have in them, because I would like to go to see movies on the big screen from time to time. (I’ve had a gift card for a movie theater for months but have yet to find a film worth seeing even with no money out of pocket.)

And Death Wish was one I was interested in. I was not hoping for high art. I was not expecting it to be a Christian film. But I draw the line at abusing Christ’s name, other extreme amounts profanity and blasphemy, and graphic sex scenes. And I won’t pay money for leftwing propaganda either.

As a someone who has a great appreciation for film I would be very interested in going to see more films in the theaters if they met my minimal expectations, as a patron.

And I don’t mean to pretend to be more moral than reality. I really don’t think my standards are all that high. I just reached a point one day when I said I’ve had enough of tolerating trash.

Watching Hollywood films today is like eating gourmet meals from a filthy dumpster. Sure there is talented acting, cinematography, and storytelling. But the poison these are mixed with is a bad recipe.

To those who have seen this film, could you please post a review here? Thank you. What I want to know is, will I as a person who enjoyed the original Death Wish films, feel satisfied as the ending credits roll?

What better plot for a movie than a guy who gets street justice by blowing away the bad guys who really deserve it. In the real world,God says “vengeance is mine”.

Could you imagine a Bernie Goetz movie at the same time as a Black Panther movie ?
