Newt Gingrich: Trump has just delivered two brilliant political surprises
Fox News ^ | March 1, 2018 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 03/01/2018 8:29:11 AM PST by jazusamo

President Trump has once again surprised the national establishment. This week he announced his re-election campaign earlier than any president in history. Simultaneously, he announced Brad Parscale would be his campaign manager.

Both these moves are a reminder of how intuitive and strategic Donald J. Trump is. These qualities are a big part of why he was elected to be our 45th president.

Why are this week’s announcements so important? Because they express intent and demonstrate immediate implementation.

First, President Trump is saying to any potential Republican challengers: “I will crush you.” The amount of money he will raise, the scale of the organization that he will build, and the size of the pro-Trump base will all combine to make the possibility of a viable Republican challenger an absurdity. Someone can run, but he or she will never survive the first round of primaries.

President Trump is also signaling to those who fantasize about a third-party candidate (and this number may grow as the Democrats’ civil war gets more vicious) that he will have the resources and the organizational base to totally dominate the general election.

Second, President Trump is building a new Republican Party, which is much broader than the party that existed when he announced his candidacy in 2015. The president’s new, larger party is the one that carried Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin in the presidential election – and almost carried Minnesota. It was this larger party that turned Ohio from a competitive battlefield into a Republican landslide.

Fine, but was anybody thinking he would not run for a second term? What's the big deal?

Maybe he doesn’t want it?

Rudy didn’t want a position either because he would have to drop his consulting business.

Newt would have to drop his commentary on Fox News

Actually a ton of speculation that he wasn’t going to run for re-election. MSM has always speculated this, now they can’t. Also it crushes republican challengers

Nip it in the bud

He may feel more useful to President Trump outside rather than inside...

And then screwed up with his anti NRA commentary. He’s not going to win PA and the Midwest being anti gun.

If Newt could work in the WH at some capacity he would be an asset.

Being in an elected position leaves you open to all sorts of attacks that are immune from corrective lawsuits.

He’ll be hard to beat with all he learned the first time. And one of his strengths is that he isn’t afraid to fail, tries lots of things, and learns for the next time.

For instance, “don’t talk to Russia directly”. The proper process is

1) Hire a US law firm (claim attorney-client privilege on everything after)
2) Have the law firm hire US-based dirtbags
3) Have the dirtbags hire a UK fiction writer (as with Mexico, it’s ok to get help from the UK but best not to do it directly)
4) Have the UK fiction writer talk to Russia
5) Deny anything after step 1 as long as possible then claim it’s legal.

Sure it’s more work than your son taking a meeting that has no results, but Democrats think it’s perfectly legal and you get whatever results you want the writer to provide - you can even provide him with the text and just have him format and sign it.

That law firm in step 1 can also arrange for thugs to disrupt opponent’s rallys “without your direction or knowledge”. But it’s best to add another law firm to the process to give you double client-attorney protection when there are physical attacks on individuals.

Trump not running again or resigning in despair/disgrace is a wet dream of the Left.

Until he opens his mouth.

Newt is a loose canon that can, too often, say the wrong things at the wrong time.

That's what I thought at first. But think of it, he's quashing any rumors the Fake News may try to invent that he's not finishing this term nor running for a second. That's huge psychologically. He's saying, "Fake News, Dems, RINOs, try to knock this battery off my shoulder" (for those old enough to remember that commercial:)
