I dont usually write opinion columns and I wasnt planning on writing one after Wednesday nights CNN town hall, but the more I thought and reflected on it, the more I became convinced of one ugly truth: the media is failing the Parkland students

Good thing no one saw it.................

They were all asleep................
aw, that’s sick...
I think the media is lying to everyone by pretending that this happened like has been reported.
And those students, smiling, laughing, flubbing their lines, doing media tours? Not very likely.
A former student, a graduate of my son’s school, was found dead a few weeks ago. The circumstances of his being missing and found dead are horrific to contemplate.
I’m at the school a lot and there is a pall over things since this kid was found dead. He graduated 3 years ago, but he was widely known and loved.
In the days he was missing and then found dead, the media was at our school quite frequently. I never observed any kind of behavior in our student body like you see in these laughing photos and staged interviews of the supposed students who watched 17 classmates shot down.
It just does not add up.
The media is lying by calling them "survivors."
There are 3,100 students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. While the 17 deaths are tragic, is it really fair to call the remaining 3,100 students "survivors?"
At its peak, the World Trade Center in New York City housed 50,000 workers, and another 200,000 visitors per day. I think it's fair to call those who evacuated the burning buildings "survivors," given that nearly the entire attendance of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School perished in the 9/11 attack, and the buildings were in imminent danger of collapse.
In 2002, John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo, known as the Beltway Snipers, killed 10 people and critically injured 3 more. How many people have since been called "Beltway survivors?"
In November 2017, eight people were killed and a dozen injured on a bike path near the Hudson River in Manhattan in a terrorist truck attack. Has anyone called the others in the area the "Hudson River Bike Path survivors?" What about the "Las Ramblas survivors" of Barcelona, Spain, just three months earlier?
Looking back at the reporting on the Columbine school shooting, at the time nobody was calling the other students "survivors;" they were simply Columbine High School students, or "witnesses."
We feed these children's sense of entitlement and righteous indignation by calling all of them "survivors." Why not label all the residents of Parkland as survivors, since Nikolas Cruz was roaming amongst the neighborhood fast food shops after the attack, and who knows where before the attack?
Heck, I now feel like a "survivor" after the MSM attack on my sensibilities. Where does it end?

The liberal agenda is based on and survives by making everyone part of the victimhood cult. Find a way to call yourself a victim and you’ve got membership in their club.
“We feed these children’s sense of entitlement and righteous indignation by calling all of them “survivors.”
Excellent point. Thank you for bringing it to light.
You are spot on. These snowflakes are not survivors. They were not shot or harmed. Just a media play for dramatic effect.
