"That’s the beauty of having a government job from the janitor to Jeff Sessions, you have no responsibility"

One of the main problems in the incident, no accountability. It's almost not talked about at all. Just like the guy earlier in the year who was dishonorably discharged from the AF and should have been put in the NICS system. I'll bet no one got fired over that one, whoops my mistake move on and lets ban guns.

had “used a gun against people before” and “has put the gun to others’ heads in the past,”
... what would you do?

Good question. I had a 7th-grade student, many years ago who was clearly “disturbed”. He would cut himself, smear his blood on the desktop, etc. Apparently, one day he came to school with a gun and pointed it at the teacher (not me) when she was writing on the chalkboard. Every kid in class saw him do it, but no one said a word until a year later when they told me about it. By then he had moved out of state. Why didn’t they say anything? They were afraid of him—he had put a shotgun to several kids heads in the neighborhood. His father blamed the school for any problems he had, that and racism.
