Trump: "possibility of giving concealed guns to gun adept teachers w/ military or special training"
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump ^ | 2/22/18 | Donald Trump

Posted on 02/22/2018 7:18:45 AM PST by Jim W N

I never said ‘give teachers guns’ like was stated on Fake News @CNN & @NBC. What I said was to look at the possibility of giving “concealed guns to gun adept teachers with military or special training experience - only the best. 20% of immediately fire back if a savage sicko came to a school with bad intentions. Highly trained teachers would also serve as a deterrent to the cowards that do this. Far more assets at much less cost than guards. A ‘gun free’ school is a magnet for bad people. ATTACKS WOULD END!

History shows that a school shooting lasts, on average, 3 minutes. It takes police & first responders approximately 5 to 8 minutes to get to site of crime. Highly trained, gun adept, teachers/coaches would solve the problem instantly, before police arrive. GREAT DETERRENT!

If a potential ‘sicko shooter’ knows that a school has a large number of very weapons talented teachers (and others) who will be instantly shooting, the sicko will NEVER attack that school. Cowards won’t go there...problem solved. Must be offensive, defense alone won’t work!

I will be strongly pushing Comprehensive Background Checks with an emphasis on Mental Health. Raise age to 21 and end sale of Bump Stocks! Congress is in a mood to finally do something on this issue - I hope!

What many people don’t understand, or don’t want to understand, is that Wayne, Chris and the folks who work so hard at the @NRA are Great People and Great American Patriots. They love our Country and will do the right thing. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Finally, someone with half a brain and common sense.

And Oh BTW, the feds can never legally “erase” the 2nd Amendment.

The only way to change the 2nd Amendment is through the constitutional amendment process. Otherwise, the 2nd Amendment stays intact and all attempts to ignore or violate the 2nd Amendment should be met with the full force of law.

Also, I’m against repealing the 2nd Amendment, but repealing it wouldn’t do a freaking thing unless there was also a new amendment authorizing the feds to regulate gun ownership. The 2nd Amendment only confirms the pre-existence of rights expressed in the Declaration of Independence and presumed in the Constitution. Our right to bear arms exists and is constitutionally protected with or without the 2nd Amendment.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Article [II] (Amendment 2 – Bearing Arms)

Notice the right to bear arms in the 2nd Amendment along with the other unalienable rights in the first ten amendments are PRE-EXISTING RIGHTS that are God-given, not man or government given. 2nd Amendment says the feds cannot "INFRINGE" on the pre-existing right to bear arms. The first ten amendments including the 2nd do NOT grant rights. They merely REMIND government not to violate those rights. Totalitarian governments "grant" rights. A free people know their rights come from God and know they cannot be separated from those rights.

And they can’t say teachers are incompetent to carry guns.

This has been an idea I’ve thought was a good one for years.

Only the school administration and local police would know the identities of teachers who are authorized to conceal carry.

They would have to get initial training and follow on training every year before the school year started to include a mental examination by a qualified shrink.

Their ability to conceal carry at school would be pulled if it’s deemed they have depression issues or life crisis type of issues such as bitter divorce etc...

If they got their conceal carry in school privs pulled, that doesn’t mean that their state conceal carry privs would be pulled. Two separate issues and would be up to the states to decide things like that.

So you’re saying teachers are less competent than policemen, Mrs. Pelosi?

Don’t ban bump stocks. If you must, grandfather the existing ones.

I don't disagree. The feds including Trump have no constitutional authority to meddle in the right to bear arms. Bearing arms is a states' issue.

There is a law on the books that needs to be rescinded:

... the bill that then-Sen. Joe Biden introduced in Congress 28 years ago that made it illegal for weapons to be carried in schools.

Known as the Gun-Free School Zones Act and signed into law in November of 1990, the bill “prohibits any person from knowingly possessing a firearm … at a place the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone,” ..

I never said 'give teachers guns'

Why not?

It's part of the solution.

You do want a solution, don't you, Don?

The Gun-Free School Zones Act is a patently unconstitutional federal law and should be resisted and rejected by the states and the people until it is repealed.

Remember, the Constitution trumps unconstitutional federal law. It is an invalid law and the other branches of the federal government should treat it as such.

I agree with the proposals set forth by President Trump in that statement (even if the bump-stock ban won’t have much of a practical effect), *except* for raising the age to purchase weapons to 21. That’s a silly, knee-jerk reaction to the fact that the school shooter in FL was 19 years old when he purchased a weapon. There are hundreds of thousands of responsible gun owners between the ages of 18 and 20 in this country, many of whom serve int he military. Why would we want to prohibit soldiers from purchasing a rifle?

President Trump hit a home run with his call to arm teachers and coaches that have undergone weapons training and to emphasize mental health in background checks. I hope that he reconsiders his proposal to increase the minimum age for gun purchases.

A teacher who is carrying would command respect that would transfer to other teachers as well.

A colorable argument can be made that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms exists even when the government says it does not, seeing as this right is God-given and beyond the scope of mankind's reach.

That's when things get really sticky, but that doesn't diminish the truth of it.

Its enough that potential shooters will know that schools are no longer “gun free zones.” When was the last time a “mass” shooting took place in a police station?

I support arming competent teachers 100% but I'm certain those who qualify, and accept the responsibility, will be doxxed by their Marxist counterparts, straight away. That shouldn't stop anyone but their anonymity can't be promised.

What we are calling “rights” here are actually privileges proffered by God to obedient believers. He can and will abridge them as disciplinary action.

Apparently the parents and students are very particular about who they want to save their lives. Only police and no one else......even though in so doing they willingly sacrifice said lives on that principle.
