It’s a bullcrap poll.

Call these weapons what they really are....semi-automatic rifles....and the numbers supporting a ban would drop like a rock.

Throw a statistic in the poll, too. The FBI says that far more people are killed with hammers every year than rifles of all kinds.

Assault weapons are already banned. Semi-Automatic rifles are not assault weapons.

the following reveals the TRUE intent of liberals and rinos- This was posted on john kasich’s website:

“As a pragmatic conservative Governor Kasich also recognizes the need for common-sense solutions to our nation’s problems. In recent years, our country has been devastated by a dramatic increase in school shootings and mass killings – many with the use of semi-automatic weapons.”

Note he’s calling out ALL semi-automatics- not just AR-15’s

I support a ban on all Liberal progressives Democrats owning or purchasing any type of firearm. They are always the ones behind these heinous crimes.

I thought assault weapons were made illegal for civilians in about 1934?

That's fully automatic weapons. And, there ain't no such thing as an assault weapon, only weapons that can be used in an assault, which is virtually any weapon.

They weren't made illegal in 1934, they had a $200 tax slapped on them, which at the time was double the cost of a Thompson. It also created a registry of automatic weapons kept by the feds.

In 1984, President Reagan signed the Firearm Owners Protection Act, which closed the registry to new firearms, so now only those that were registered prior to 1984 can be purchased for private ownership.

There is limited availability, but they're not illegal (at the federal level. Your state mileage may vary.)

What is an assault weapon?
Answer- Any firearm every produced.
Who gets to decide which “assault” weapons get banned?
Answer - Political hacks that have no working knowledge of any firearms and are protected by armed personnel 24/7
Is this a good idea?
Answer - NO!

True, poor choice of words, but I was responding to the OP. The $200 tax made most automatics untouchable to the general population, virtually a prohibition.

Because nothing on their list is actually an “assault weapon”.

It is a term originally butchered by Diane Feinstein in California legislation.

NONE of the weapons on that list are full auto or select-fire weapons.

They are all semi-automatic weapons.

They cosmetically LOOK like military weapons, but they don’t FUNCTION like military weapons.

So, liberals use their standard tactic of LYING about the terms they use to elicit an emotional response.

Just because you call a cow’s tail a leg doesn’t mean you have 5 legged cow.

Better to ban “gun free zones” - it would put a real crimp in those who use that status as opportunities to commit mass mayhem...

How ‘bout: govt employees, nor public entities (actors, news, etc.) are no longer able to have, nor hire armed guards; nor shall walls be constructed around any of their properties.

Maybe even criminalize their showing (TV, movies, videos) as well as the disparaging, derogatory terms of other races\sexes\creeds.

Once MD, IL, NY cease to be hot-beds of criminal violence...

Let’s see what a 10yr test-plan looks like with those. Then, MAYBE THEN, we can sit down and have a discussion on REAL solutions.
