What is factually true should not be subjectively dependent upon ideological shifts. People who subvert truth to ideology should never be allowed on the bench.
“A county prosecutor, however, claimed the parents were opposed to their daughter transitioning to become a male because of their Christian religious beliefs.”
And right there is their grounds for appeal.
They wanted to set a precedent that parent’s do not have a right to gainsay decision of a minor child related to sexual orientation and identity. Much like abortion it will soon be decided that such matters are so personal and private that only experts get a say-so in helping a child reach a decision. Not evil fundies who want to hold back Utopia.
The hospital and its program and the director of that program need to be sued for malpractice. They need to be brought before the medical board on ethics violation.
This program convinced the child that her anxiety and depression were caused by being the wrong gender when she had never previously exhibited any desire to live as another gender. The director claims that 100% of patients seen at the clinic meet the qualification for hormone therapy. That in itself is statistically impossible.
You know what this is about? It is first about evil and it is secondly about bringing in $$$$ for a clinic that should not exist in the first place.
Yup. The government “experts” know better than you, so they’ll decide.
Read the ruling. She does not believe this and has ordered that prior to any further “therapy” the teen see a psychologist/therapist not affiliated with the clinic that has pushed for the transition. She is quite damning in her ruling about the clinic. She made a point of mentioning that the medical records showed there was no imminent threat of suicide.
The parents agreed the teen should remain with the grandparents. So they must believe they are suitable caregivers. The judge does not mention anything about the parents’ religious beliefs.
Reading news stories on the case it is obvious that the teen is lying through her teeth and has been coached on just what to say.
I agree. We are in the midst of a true spiritual war.
Given that steroid use can cause liver and kidney damage long term for those bodybuilders and other athletes who abuse steroids for their athleticism, I wouldnt be surprised if hormone transition carried similar effects.
Otherwise if it last into puberty it needs to be treated as mental illness and treated by counseling. I would bet 99.9% of the cases involved mentally disturbed parents for their own attention. I don't dispute the fact there are a very small group of children out there who do have a serious mental illness. But I also think the percentages seen today are mainly driven by parents.
We hire judges to issue opinions. Opinions vary. As long as politicians get to decide who becomes a judge, political ideology will factor in.
In the 2017 October term, the two Supreme Court Judges who disagreed on rulings the most were Obama’s Sotomayor and Trump’s Gorsuch. That’s not surprising. But what is surprising is that Gorsuch and Sotomayor AGREED on rulings 59% of the time. That’s 41% disagreement among the two most disparate Justices.
Only 2 Justices agreed with each other 100% of the time, Thomas and Gorsuch.
“You know what this is about? It is first about evil ...”
Rightly so.
oh thank you for clearing that up
That’s what happens when one reads headlines. Thank you for clarifying the sad story.
Sotomayor, Ginsberg, and Kagan wouldn't know constitutional law if it bit them on the leg.
Justice Kagan and Justice Gorsuch were in agreement 65% of the time.
Here’s another stat that I also got from scotusblog.com: for the first six months of the Fall, 2017 term, majority opinions authored by each Justice:
Ginsberg: 3, Sotomayor: 2, Thomas: 1, Gorsuch: 1, Breyer: 1, Roberts, Kennedy, Kagan and Alito: 0.
The raw numbers do not give an accurate picture of the cases or of the intellect involved. Presumably the Supreme court gets a lot of cases (such as from the 9th circuit) that are so screwy, that even a kook like Kagan can't go along with them.
Supreme Court Justices should be in agreement something like 90% of the time. Else it's just subjectivity.
The 9th is by far the largest court of appeals, so they hear the most cases. In the Fall 2017 session, the Supreme Court received 13 appeals (19%) from the 9th. They only agreed to hear 1 appeal and they reversed the 9th that one time.
