OTOH it is good to see the man’s paternal rights also being respected in a court of law. Until now, men were regarded as ATMs to be looted at the whim of any woman they impregnated, who got to take his money and do as she pleased.

I’ve always understood that in the Jewish religion, the child is considered a Jew if the mother was a Jew.
Do Christian denominations have any tradition like that? How should these things be decided among parents?
