The FBI is really quite uncaring about protocols, or people, imho. The whole agency needs a make over, and new leadership....as far down as the corruption goes! Everyone should qualify for a top secret security clearance, otherwise ...OUT!
It’s not that they dropped the ball. They are just playing a different game. Someone earlier said the FBI failed to follow “protocol”, based on some naive assumption that the real FBI is just like the Efrem Zimbalist Jr version.
Get this, the FBI is a policy-action arm of the state, and it serves ONLY the interests of the state. The policy is terror, terror, and more terror. The action is finding susceptible subjects and developing them into suitable terrorists, so that they may later be dispositioned into a terror action such as shooting up a school/bombing the WTC basement/wearing exploding underwear or shoes on a plane/shooting up their own workplaces like in San Bernardino, shooting up patriots gathered in Dallas with Pam Geller, so forth - or they may be apprehended just in time by “heroic FBI agents” if the FBI needs some good PR. Final disposition is of course a political calculation.
Everything in government you think should not be political, actually is, especially at the top. That is the swamp. The swamp is not bureaucrats taking martini lunches on the taxpayer dime, it’s our most revered institutions being controlled and corrupted by the most heinous crime syndicate in human history.
If this is too much too soon for some Freepers, well someone has to be that guy and I’m retired from the swamp and don’t give a crap anymore about myself. Ignore me, have me zotted, have my door kicked in, whatever it takes to make yourself feel like the defender of mom and apple pie.

Yeah, good expenditure of our tax dollars. The tax payers need to demand the abolishment of this corrupt and useless organization.
