Elizabeth Warren disingenuously doubles down defending her fake Indian heritage claims
American Thinker ^ | 02/15//2018 | Thomas Lifson

President Trump's needling of Senator Elizabeth Warren's unsupported claim to Native American ancestry has hit its mark.  Yesterday, the Massachusetts senator made an unannounced appearance before the National Congress of American Indians, the oldest national organization that claims to represent the interests of Native Americans, and repeated her previously debunked claims in a particularly offensive manner.

The reliably progressive Boston Globe covered the speech with a straight face:

Warren did not apologize for her undocumented claims that her mother's family had Cherokee blood – instead, reaffirming: "My mother's family was part Native American.  And my daddy's parents were bitterly opposed to their relationship.  So, in 1932, when Mother was 19 and Daddy had just turned 20, they eloped.

"The story they lived will always be a part of me," she said, as tears came to her eyes.  "And no one – not even the president of the United States – will ever take that part of me away."

The tears are a nice touch, don't you think?  She's a victim, just like her Indian momma.  Trump is so mean...

Judge for yourself the sincerity of the tears:

The best rational explanation is that she may sincerely believe that she has native american ancestry.

Even if true, highly unlikely that’s the reason the marriage was opposed.

Sooooo daddy’s family disapproved of the relationship BECAUSE of the Native American background? She doesn’t quite say that. Very telling.

That must have been after her ancestor helped to organize the ‘trail of tears’ . . .

Paleface Lizzy Warren stole money meant for Indians.

She’s just a dirty thief.

Can’t you just claim it anyways nowadays?

Heck, three-quarters of the people living in the United States today claim to be "part-Cherokee."

I’ve got a relative from not too far back who was Swiss.

But I don’t talk about it. Because, why would I? It’s not at all shameful (who hates the Swiss?) but it’s not interesting either.

You talk about this sort of thing, if — and only if — you think it will provide an advantage for you. Warren tells everyone about her Native American heritage? She’s trying to use the race card to her advantage.

This isn’t the story of someone being victimized in 1932. This is the story of someone trying to be privileged in our post-modern society.

My mother’s family was part Native American

Like Joseph Goebbles said, if you tell a lie often enough, eventually people will begin to believe it.

The best rational explanation is that she may sincerely believe that she has native american ancestry.

... and she may very well have Cherokee blood. Probably can't prove it but she may have it. Maybe 1/32 at best. So what? It is absurd for someone to make such a big deal of that small amount when the United States is a melting pot of people from many countries and all sorts of heritages.

So someone that is 1/32 Italian is supposed to make a big deal of it and try to get special treatment? It is silly.

I am 1/32 Cherokee. so what?

I’m tellin’ ya.....she’s gonna write a check, or make good on some promise to deliver Federal pork, and then some tribe is going to magically produce a document that claims she really IS an Indian.

That almost HAS to happen if she intends to run in 2020.
