Up in smoke (Corey Gardner R-CO blocks key Justice Dept. posts)
powerlineblog.com ^ | 2/12/18 | Paul Mirengoff

I wrote here about the void in the Trump/Sessions, where four nominees for Assistant Attorney General positions are being held up due to Senate inaction. The four positions are crucial ones: Assistant Attorney General, Civil Division; Assistant Attorney General, Civil Rights Division; Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division; and Assistant Attorney General, National Security Division.

Why can’t these nominees get a vote? Apparently, it’s because of marijuana. Sen. Cory Gardner is vexed with Attorney General Sessions over enforcement of Federal marijuana laws in Colorado.

Alfred Regnery, citing just one of the four major gaps at the Justice Department, points out the absurdity of the situation:

There is no permanent presidential appointee at the Justice Department in charge of combating terrorism because a Republican senator has put discretionary federal marijuana enforcement above U.S. national security in his priorities.

No matter how one feels about the dispute between Sessions and Gardner over enforcement of federal marijuana laws in Colorado, it is the height of irresponsibility to block the administration from staffing key positions at the DOJ over this matter. As Christian Adams has illustrated, the absence of presidential appointees at the Assistant Attorney General level leaves left-wing Obama holdovers with enormous sway at the Justice Department. Sen. Gardner’s priorities are grossly out of whack.

Gardner is OWNED by the stoner morons. Says a LOT about the kind of person he is.

As in, does not give a crap about non-narcotized people, with or without prescription.

A child of his college days doing weed, when everything was “OK” when it wasn’t. And a resultant dumbA@@.

Someone needs to take Senator Gardner out behind the woodshed and give him an explanation that his ‘hobby horse’ issue is being detrimental to getting rid of the Democrapt corrupt holdovers in the DOJ OUT and getting in our clean folks.

I don’t remember hearing any news about this Senator Gardner introducing legislation to legalize marijuana in the US Senate.

Exactly. The DOJ is suppose to enforce laws. It is congresses job to eliminate or create them. Just like DACA.

The Rs can’t wait to lose in November so they can play “woa is us we can’t do what you all voted for us to do because we’re in the minority.”

$OROS sure knew exactly where he needed to spend his wealth. His dollars have perverted every institution required for a civil society. Politics, economy, education and last but certainly not least, religion.

Gardner is misguided.

It is the legislature that decides what class of drugs marijuana fits, not Sessions. If Gardner wants to be useful, maybe he and his peers could convince Congress to degrade marijuana into a different class that didn’t require federal regulation on a state level. But beating on the administration for Session’s enforcing existing law is a waste of time and effort that could be better directed.

There have been so many arrests by federal authorities for marijuana possession that I can’t keep count of them. No, wait a minute I can, THERE ARE NONE.

gardner’s gonna get his ass beat in 2020 by Hickenlooper.

gardener has burned all of the bridges that originally got him elected, catering to illegal aliens and dope growers and not supporting Trump.

I’ll vote for the little prick but won’t give him another dime or otherwise lift a finger to help him after he repeatedly lied to my face throughout his House and Senate campaigns about how “conservative” he would be.
