Greek and Armenian Americans Press U.S. Senators to Block F-35 Sale to Turkey

WASHINGTON—The Hellenic American Leadership Council (HALC) and the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) have launched a national advocacy campaign encouraging U.S. Senators to block a planned sale of U.S. F-35 stealth fighters to Turkey’s increasingly erratic and anti-American Erdogan regime.

The ANCA and Hellenic American Leadership Council have joined forces to launch a grassroots campaign to block the impending F-35 sale to Turkey (Graphic: ANCA)

This joint Hellenic-Armenian American initiative – the most recent in a series of ANCA-HALC advocacy campaigns – warns Senators against the dangers of providing Erdogan with advanced weapons that he may turn against our allies—including Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and Armenia—and, possibly even U.S. forces.  The campaign also raises alarms regarding the likelihood that Turkey may leak highly classified F-35 technology to adversaries, including Iran and Russia.

Last year, House Foreign Affairs Committee member David Cicilline (D-R.I.) proposed an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Bill to block the F-35 sale following Turkish President Recep TayyipErdogan-ordered attacks against peaceful protesters in Washington, D.C.  While the House Rules Committee did not allow full House consideration of Rep. Cicilline’s proposal, a second amendment, advanced by Rep. David Trott (R-Mich.) blocking the sale of semi-automatic guns to Turkey was adopted.

OK. I believe that the Armenian and the Greek citizens of the U.S. understand what the current threat by Turkey against the people of Efrin, Syria actually is.

Turkey has shown it's true face.

Greeks and Armenians know what the turks are really like. Typical m*slims: violent, hateful, dirty.

Sell any to Turkey and Sukhoi will be testing one at their design bureau within a week.

Week two they'll have all the software downloaded and know of any weaknesses in it, week three they'll be incorporating anything they find useful into an upgrade for their existing and in development aircraft.

The Russians they’ll give one to, the Iranians would have to pay a pretty penny for one if they could even talk the Turks out of one. The bad blood between Turkey and Iran runs deep.

If I were an enemy of Turkey i’d love for them to spend billions of their own funds on the f-35.

Who in their right mind would sell Erdogan Turkey anything now? Only a neocon or the DOD or CIA would be so un-American.

Well, they have the 2nd largest military in NATO. (headshake)

T-Rex is there this week. Clarity must be established.

What Turkey is doing in Syria is prelude to genocide.

Will send you a freepmail. What I send I believe to be totally true.

The Pope disagrees. He virtually kissed Erdogan and wiped his a$$ with the Armenian genocide record

Why would we sell current technology to the enemy? And why do we have a base in an enemy country? Time to get all our troops out of Turkey and kick Turkey out of NATO.

I wished I knew when it was the right thing for Turkey to be in NATO (since 1952). I’m told during the cold war.

T-Rex is there this week. Wished I could hear the conversation.

Well, the Jesuit Pope is wrong.

Placation is not the solution to the conflict.

Identifying it and honestly making what it is know to the world is the solution.

I’m told by many that it is a poor substitute for the current class of fighters we use.

It is too small and light. The total focus on stealth is the trap that was set. Agility? Yes, incredible. But there are no longer dogfights in the world where visual contact is seldom possible when firing on a hostile aircraft. They are too far apart for that when they fire.
