Trains are a 19th Century tech - current ones are just updated fancified trains. Doesn’t change what they are simply because they go faster and and burn diesel instead of coal.
The railroad is a highly efficient transportation technology for freight when distance, volume and weight are factors. Rail passenger service is generally too labor intensive, though All Aboard Florida's privately-operate Brightline will likely be a money-maker.
