If someone told me they were Napoleon, I might agree with him just to humor him and avoid some sort of confrontation, but I wouldn’t - in my own mind - accept that his claim was true, nor would I want government forcing me to accept that his claim was true and that I had to respect it on that basis. And, as you said, I would avoid further contact with that person if possible.

melsec: You wanted to know the title of Dr. Peterson’s books. The most recent is “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos.” I got it at Barnes and Noble right behind the information desk. It’s also a best seller at Amazon.com.

His other book, “Maps of Meaning,” is a difficult academic book, and it’s also available at Amazon.com and probably elsewhere.

I did no such thing. I was commenting that if you disagree with someone's choice of pronoun, you don't have to be an ass about it and refuse to call them that. You can simply not call them anything or for that moment, in their presence call them whatever they want and thereafter go about your business.

I like Ben Shapiro and I know the video to which you were about to refer. That said, Shapiro is disagreeable and confrontational and quite often an ass to people.

Someone's delusion about their gender is not my issue to sort out. Someone want to be called She despite an objective reality in conflict with it? Sure, I'll call them that, then I'll walk away and that's the end of that.

I watched the interview with Cathy Newman. Peterson is quite brilliant with many of his parries with the single exception of his lobster illustration.

Peterson mistakenly assumes that man and lobsters have a common biological ancestor which predates in his words the existence of trees. Rather, man and lobster have a common biological Designer and Creator whose utilization of the same or similar serotonin stimulus mechanism capable of being influenced by anti-depressants may be found in humans as well as lobsters.

It is is quite a stretch for Peterson to assert that one is descended from the other, and as one who regularly speaks to evidences which form the basis of his many well founded positions, his assumptions regarding lobsters simply fail for lack of evidence, and are based solely on the meritless assumptions attendant to the evolutionary world-view.

Google not only demonetized his Youtube channel but temporarily banned him from using Google drive and gmail.
Facebook recently locked him out of his Facebook account, despite him repeatedly sending photo ID to prove his identity.
Social media giants repeatedly censor and warn against sharing content like his.

I personally still view it as a mental illness, and would be no more inclined to mock them/agitate them to their face as I would anyone else who was mentally ill.

That being said, I'd limit that to personal, face to face social encounters. Outside of that, and of course if the person in question tries to make it an issue and draw you into a discussion, I hold to biology as being determinative of pronouns.

Exactly. To do otherwise is to invite unnecessary drama or worse into your life. Get through it and move on. As a rule, I avoid mentally ill people as nothing good can ever come from it.
