A bill aimed at resetting immigration negotiations in the Senate is running into early backlash from President Trump.
The bill from Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Christopher Coons (D-Del.), introduced on Monday, pairs a path to citizenship for “dreamers” with border security measures — but does not include funding for a U.S.-Mexico border wall.
The two senators believe their bill could be a base for negotiators among a wider group of senators, but Trump took a shot at the measure before it was even formally introduced.
The president said it was a non-starter to offer a fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects many immigrants who entered the United States illegally as children, without funding for the wall.
“Any deal on DACA that does not include STRONG border security and the desperately needed WALL is a total waste of time,” he wrote in a tweet. “March 5th is rapidly approaching and the Dems seem not to care about DACA. Make a deal!”

McCain is trying to short circuit Trump’s gamesmanship here.
Trump has the Left right where he wants them, and in comes McCain.
It has already been telegraphed that DACA would not be a part of future funding negotiations, and now McCain is trying to make sure they are.
If I were Trump, I’d be furious with McCain.
Many wish McStain would hurry up and get where he’s going.

That’s what he’s saying - March 5th must be the day that the protection from deportation goes away. On their heads be it! I’m kind of liking that six month delay now that it’s looming.

I don't know the procedure on introducing bills, but if McCain isn't in DC and can't even be in on this conference call how can he introduce something in the Senate?

There have been no sightings at all of McCain since December 20th. He’s hiding out here in AZ mainly because he knows his hands are VERY DIRTY re: the revolting salacious Steele Dossier. Juan doesn’t want to go back to DC and have to answer reporter questions abuot what he did.
If you try to call Juan’s offices, no one picks up the phone, and you can’t leave a message, the voicemail boxes are full. What a worthless POS, this Juan McCain!!
Well McCain is no genius..he graduated like almost last at the Navy Academy..his father was an Admiral I think...
They really need age limits in Congress...term limits will never pass..
But the wall...that's security.... and it belongs in the budget.

But I would enjoy seeing a vote in both the Senate and House.
