As a school district spokesman explained, “Swings have been determined to be the most unsafe of all the playground equipment on a playground.”

Uh, oh, now that we've removed those dangerous swing sets, some other piece of playground equipment has now emerged to be the most unsafe. There will always be a most-unsafe item to be deleted until there is nothing but a barren treeless plain.

And then, recent research shows that the ground is the major injurious factor when children fall, and the park is therefore closed until we can remove the ground.

Such an important issue — for parents and even grandparents to be aware of — plus when any of us are in a position to choose policies that could be ‘overprotective’ (and this happens a lot for working people on committees, who go to meetings, who vote, etc) we should take a deep breath and advocate, to be concise, FREEDOM.

When I was a ten, I could take the train downtown for 12 1/2 cents (a quarter round trip) to go to the Y. No one was kidnapped, no one died.
