‘I’m All For It’: DACA Immigrants Suddenly Changing Their Tune On Trump And The Border Wall

Many of the so-called Dreamers worried about their immigration status are starting to reconsider their opposition to a possible wall at the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a report Friday from the San Francisco Chronicle.

President Donald Trump’s wall at the border wouldn’t be so bad, some groups are now saying, so long as it means citizenship for the nearly 700,000 people brought into the country through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

“If building a wall leads us to having citizenship, then I’m all for it,” Ana Rodriguez, who works at a daycare center in California, told reporters at the Chronicle. “The U.S. is what I know and that’s where I want to live my life — I want to be a part of it in full.”

Rodriguez and others like her are arguing about accepting a trade-off — giving Trump his wall in exchange for retaining DACA. The Trump administration proposed a bill earlier this month offering citizenship to 1.8 million illegal immigrants in exchange for $25 billion for a border wall.

Activist organizations have also noted that DACA recipients are making recalculations about their opposition. Marissa Montes, co-director of the Loyola Immigrant Justice Clinic in Los Angeles, noticed in recent weeks that they are sounding more and more likely to back a wall in exchange for citizenship.

“It’s coming from a point of exhaustion — they’ve tried everything,” Montes told reporters. “Their instinct is survival and as human beings, how much longer can they endure this? They’re ping-ponging back and forth.”

(snip)

Recent polling shows Hispanics are evenly split on whether to combine a DACA deal to the building of a wall — 42 percent of Hispanics oppose it and 42 percent support it, according to the Quinnipiac poll conducted Jan. 18.

I'll bet only 20% of the 2 million would make it 12 years ... and the ones that make it will probably be successful to the point of hating taxes - They'll vote Republican ...

Trump is changing the narrative on virtually everything. Old memes are falling by the wayside.

All it took was someone with the balls to do it.

No DACA without a HS diploma and written essay in English showing proficiency in our official language. Basic requirement for job skills we actually need as a country.

I just hope the ‘citizenship piece’ is part of the art of the deal and not in the final version.

Offer them retention without citizenship. Bet they would take it. Ď But globalist pukes in Congress would give them citizenship down the road. They want goodies. They are already Mexican citizens and proud of it.

OK so these illegal aliens were dragged here “unwillingly” and “brought here against their will” and “it’s not their fault” etc

Well then someone is at fault...Oh dear it’s the illegal alien parents who brought these po wee illegal alien “children” here, kicking and screaming and tearing their tiny finger nails out at the border door jam...

So ...what is planned for the illegal alien parents ???

Are the illegal alien “children” willing to make sure their illegal alien parents are deported for being here illegally and for obvious child abuse (kidnapping, criminal neglect, child endangerment, involving a child in a crime etc) before they can apply for any AMNESTY for themselves ???

Yes, I think that in order to get citizenship, the DACA kids have to turn in mom and dad to ICE. Sort of what Soros did with the Nazis

Plus are the illegal alien dacacas willing to wait until the wall is finished before applying for AMNESTY ???

The money being available is not enough...its been 10 years since all the funds necessary were provided by the House Appropriations Committee to build Congressman Duncan Hunter’s complete wall and the wall was never built...

This suggests that Trump is driving a wedge between Dem leadership, which wants a steady stream of compliant voters, and actual DACA beneficiaries, who simply want to continue to benefit from living in the States. The former would never approve of a wall, whereas the latter really ought not to care.

The daca people poisoned by La Raza & Univision will vote Dem regardless but I know working class hispanics have a lot in common with the average conservative voter.

People like my wife and her gaggle of friends listen to all the gossipy airheads on TV for their news but privately she acts like a strict conservative.

I bet Trump will peel off a significant amount of these people who will vote for good republican candidates who can communicate with them...

No more Political Football for Dems

Will become a way to curtail the Muslim influx.

Then a wall to keep out the deported ..... Good incentive to behave

The norm for citizenship is 1-2 years.

Trump says 10-12 years....tells me it's like going home, waiting in line, and re-entering....without disrupting a family.

I think this is a good deal! We get to build the damn Wall so this won't happen again & since TRUMP made this deal, maybe we can bump up latino support by 10% & get 40% of their support??

Too many people going underground Too many reaching for a piece of cake

Too many people pulled and pushed around Too many waiting for that lucky break

That was your first mistake You took your lucky break and broke it in two Now what can be done for you? You broke it in two.....

Too bad, "Dreamers."
