... somebody goes to jail.

This is what concerns me about this story. They are willing to basically admit to something that lands even worker bees in jail, which means what they are trying to hide is BIG.

They’re doing worse than playing dirty. The President should take the 5th and say nothing to Mueller and his tens of thousands of partners. The Judicial has been incrementally establishing itself as the single branch of government and subverting the other two branches for decades. The U.S.A. is nearly a police state.

so their phones worked for a while and then didn’t work. Welp, I’m certain the phone company has all these texts. Nothing is lost for reals these days. If not the gubmint can always use NarusInsight...the successor to Carnivore. I’m sure those texts exist out there.

The phone isn’t what saves them. They are all automatically saved on the phone companies server. The user can’t delete that copy even if they want to. This whole thing is a smoke screen. These texts must be very, very damning.

Yep. The drones get tossed to the wolves and the rest skate. There's a danger in that, though - sometimes the drones can bite back, and they're in a position to.

Cancel every contract that the Fed has with Samsung. I guarantee within a day, all those text messages will be found.

" Thousands of FBI-issued Samsung 5 phones had technical issues that resulted in a failure to store text messages over a period of a year between June 2016 and May 2017, CBS News' Paula Reid reports, citing a senior Justice Department official. "

B.S. !!

a senior justice official would not know the first step at retrieving these text messages.

The congress needs to call the head of FBI IT and their Mobil Device Management IT Staff and ask them about to explain where these messages are. I guarantee you the IT Staff will produce these messages in two seconds flat.

Also if the text messages are missing? How do they know the number is 50 thousand? How do they know such a definitive number if they are gone?

I have an IT background and experience in MDM. This is such a load of crap it's laughable.

Funny but I don’t seem to remember Samsung issuing a tech alert or recall for this problem.

How odd that only FBI issued Samsungs were affected.

exactly!

this is complete and utter BS.

the phones and the app on them are NOT the engine of storage.

OMG, a secure app works to keep sensitive data OFF the endpoint.

liars gotta lie.

No intelligence organization would distribute phones that fail to document messages by its own people or those who use them.
Even IF true, they’re supposed to be able to save all that other data at servers.
They’re lying.

Certainly do that too.

However, deleted texts from the phone itself is a red flag.
I would examine every phone. Every single one to narrow
the focus of who to investigate further before I went to the carrier
or NSA.

Of course, I would order the carrier to maintain all phone records
and texts.

it is not anything about Samsung.

FR is anonymous, and it needs to stay that way. if I responded in depth that anonymity disappears.

but I am somewhat on the ‘inside’ of this be story of secure messaging.

Samsung has NO role in this.

Samsung has NO role in this.
