Mayor Bill de Blasio abruptly canceled what would have been his first White House meeting with President Trump on Wednesday — citing Department of Justice action on immigration as the reason.
Hizzoner was scheduled to visit the White House with more than 100 other mayors to discuss issues that include infrastructure spending and the opioid crisis.
“I will NOT be attending today’s meeting at the White House after @realDonaldTrump’s Department of Justice decided to renew their racist assault on our immigrant communities,” de Blasio tweeted just a couple of hours before the scheduled meeting. “It doesn’t make us safer and it violates America’s core values.”
Earlier Wednesday, the Trump administration issued new warnings to New York City and 22 other jurisdictions over sanctuary cities.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions threatened to withhold federal grants from major cities that didn’t turn over documents certifying their cities aren’t skirting federal immigration laws.

Good. The American taxpayer doesn’t need the added expense of the post-meeting fumigation that the White House would need following a visit by that worthless POS, anyway.
