A psychologist at the only U.K. clinic for children seeking to change their gender has said that girls as young as 11 are being placed on puberty blockers and hormone treatment, and warned that schools act "within minutes" to register a child as the opposite sex.
Bernadette Wren, consultant clinical psychologist at the Gender Identity Development Service clinic in London, revealed in an interview with The Sunday Times that the youngest child receiving such treatment there is an 11-year-old girl who identifies as a boy.
Wren warned that schools in the U.K. are moving too fast in labeling a child as a member of the opposite sex.
"Schools might wait for the parents to approach them before changing things like names in the register, uniforms, pronouns, toilets, sports," she said.
"If a school just gets a whisper of a child who may be querying their gender and within minutes they are doing everything to make sure that child is regarded as a member of the opposite sex right from the word go — that may not be the best for that child," she added.
The psychologist revealed that about one in 10 of the children who are referred to the London clinic decide to opt out of the treatment.
GIDS says that GPs, schools, and support groups referred more than 2,000 children to its services in the space of nine months last year, which is a 20-fold increase from previous years when in 2009 there were only 97 referrals.
Wren warned that future generations may not think that the current way of handling the issue has been wise, noting that young people sometimes regret their decision to undergo gender change, which creates serious problems later on in life.

This suggests that the UK government is doing this without the notifying the parents. The western world is truly lost right now.

These feminists, so experienced at taking offense, ought to be taking major freaking offense at this.

Who else wants to venture that soon opting out will not be permitted on the basis it is “transphobic” and clinics will have to provide the treatment even against the child and parent’s wishes.
So the LBGTQ lobby argues that children can be trusted to know their sex and apply for medical intervention and the government will jump to fulfil his or her wishes. But that same lobby argues that a child who is uncomfortable with their sexual orientation can’t be allowed to seek conversion therapy while a minor. Seems to be a heads-I-win, tails-you-lose proposition for that lobby and it’s supporters, and lose-lose for the children.
Schools might want to wait until the child is an adult and can understand, more fully, the ramifications of changing ones sex --- INCLUDING, the biological fact that your sex cannot be changed. You can only change your physical appearance to be more closely aligned with the sex you "identify" with.
Will anyone, EVER, look into the suicide rates for these people AFTER they have the surgery? A study might be helpful, in order to see if it actually helps these people. The doctor who started this whole thing, stopped doing them because after (25 years, I think) he had found that there were no improvements in the psychological, and other, problems that these people had come to him about in the first place.
As I have posted before: Looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing a penis; but, insisting that you are a woman in a man's body, means that there is nothing wrong with the organ between your legs; but, there is something seriously off with the organ between your ears.
This seems to be a problem with "perception". How they perceive themselves. Isn't that the brain?
