No, the so called commander is NOT a woman.

The Lt. Commander was identified in the first paragraph of the article a Navy spokesperson. The article did not state, nor even imply, that she is the commander of the vessel.

"It is interesting. I’m wondering why it was in Montreal at Christmas."

Perhaps it has something to do with Montreal night life?

Confused the spokesperson name as being commander — total brain fart...apologies.

Testing was all done by then.

Except the ice may crush the aluminum hull.

The hull is steel, the superstructure is aluminum.

“...On the bright side… it won’t be involved in a collision...

Yet.”

Astute observation. Maybe brass told them to heave to but they just heaved.

Montréal is a really fun city, even in the winter

Lots of high quality strip clubs.... or so I've heard.

I was gonna say, this would be an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange and diplomatic outreach to our friends to the north.

Just make sure everyone's getting paid on time and grant shore leave for almost everyone. What could go wrong? :)

Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson . . .

Something tells me that this might turn out to be the core of the problem.

Lt. Cmdr. Hillson is the Public affairs spokesperson at the Pentagon. She didn't have anything to do with the circumstances of the ship.

......well, I can answer that one. If your tied to the dock all winter on a Navy Warship most likely you will want to hang yourself..............depending on your c/o and you job on board. If you have a boots and saddles type Captain it will be drills, training 24/7.

If your in a great liberty port, you might survive (mentally).

And, it depends on your job. I was the only postal clerk on board and my off hours were mine. No one messes with the PC. Not even the Captain!

Canada is terrible at the surrender thing even when they should.

They have a tendency to instead do the impossible which nobody else could and kick tail.

Vimy is a good example. Afghan is a newer example. So much done in afghan that the delta commander told pentagon that he didn’t want to be deployed without them anymore.

As for the ship being stuck. They have good looking ladies there, but they’re usually French heh.

Just make sure everyone's getting paid on time...

I understand your government shutdown may put a crimp in that.

I did my basic training near there, about 45 mins away. We were confined to quarters for the first four weeks, but once they let us loose, ya there was lots of stuff.

Strip clubs aren’t my thing, but even if you walk too far the wrong way on ST Catherine’s street, the men start whistling at you.

“A series of errors by Panama Canal pilots navigating the littoral combat ship Montgomery through a pair of locks last year caused a deep gash in the aluminum hull, a Navy probe determined.”
