New applications for unemployment insurance benefits plunged by 41,000 to 220,000 in the second week of 2018, the Labor Department reported Thursday, the lowest level in nearly 45 years.

The report easily beat forecasters expectations for new jobless claims to drift down to around 250,000.

The Trump administration and congressional Republicans have stated that they want to maintain a high level of job creation not only decrease unemployment, but also boost the labor force participation rate by encouraging people who have retired or quit the workforce to seek out jobs.

I say baloney to this claim.

Baloney.

We have a ton of the workforce, no longer even counted.

Me for example.

There are nearly 100 million Americans now no longer counted.

I am American. I worked for twenty years at a big company in America.

Not working there now. There are BUNCHES of others, who are also no longer working in what they wanted to do.

Lots, and lots, and lots.

Almost now, 100,000,000.

I am for Trump. Have been forever. But please don’t say we don’t need to bring back US jobs.

We do. Bigtime.

Vietnam is a cheap place to camp out, no?

I mean we could put it this way: why would it be more attractive to an unseemly number of Americans to camp out in a third world Communist country than to sojourn in the States?

cba123 isn’t a civic genius by any means but he does know survival it seems.

And realistically it looks like if an effective answer doesn’t remain coalesced around a Trump movement, it may not have another chance. Trump must herd the cats or they stay unherded.

Yup. You got that right.

Sort of undeveloped, but has potential.

The one thing I hadn’t expected prior to coming here, is the complete lack of any racism.

It is absent. Almost completely. Unlike any other place I have been. There is some degree of racism it seems almost everywhere. Asia. Europe. America. Africa. You find a country, dig a bit, and you will find some racism.

I think maybe it is something about the history here. France was in their history for several hundred years, and seems to have made quite an impression. And the US Vietnam war. Now they’re on their own for quite a while, but I really was surprised when I got here.

It really is almost completely, not racist here. Everyone.

Wasn’t really intending on staying for a long time.

Have now been here for nearly a year and a half.

Just remember it IS communist and that if it weren’t for trade with nations that weren’t, Vietnam would fare about as well as the USSR did.

China is communist, and we are in the process of making it richer than America.

For real.

At some point China will have to transform, or fail as bad as the USSR did.

Why?

I am not saying you are wrong. But you might be wrong.

China is in no way, giving a bit, up. They really are not.

For over one generation. Everyone has been flooding the country, with OUR BUSINESSES.

Now they are out-exporting America, I think.

And growing.

Quick. I don’t see us recapturing anything.

There is an entire unseen side of humanity, known as the spiritual.

At some point the destruction woven into a situation that is not based on the belief in a God with redeeming powers, will bring a country down flat.

China has more of that cancer than the USA has. Yet. They polluted their whole countryside and cityscape. Although some cheaters are executed, many more openly get away with it. This is going to wear on the human spirit which will either faint away or rebel. God built that in.

I think you are believing humans are all identical.

Chinese are not Americans, on balance.

It could be they are more comfortable with a communist system. Maybe.

Maybe not. I have been in Taiwan, and they seem quite fond of freedom. But so does the mainland seem quite comfortable with their system.

What I am saying, is we are building up China. And NOT building up America at anywhere near the same rate. That is a HUGE problem. China is growing, and growing, and growing. We are standing still, basically.

For over one entire generation now.

That needs to change, in my view.

But everyone, seems completely to be on board with building up China.

Everyone.

And that noted, greater China has a choice. Some estimate it might be as much as 25% stealth Christian and other things that are close. The state cannot share in a glory that has no context. The better road for China might look like Poland’s Solidarnosc. Christian spirituality rises more powerfully than the government can suppress. A revolution ensues. China starts to value being clean and honest.

But China can’t keep its present course up with no change. It will collapse of rottenness trying.

God built an identical core into humanity. But men have pursued many schemes.

Redemption happens but one way: the willingly accepted work of a suffering Savior.

Notice too that as much as Chinese government wants a closed society, in practice the activities of merchants make it difficult. China has churches for foreigners that don’t have to carry on with a secularized state message, but keeping the message entirely out of larger China is a vain pursuit. Religious themed items produced in China have a similar effect. China is being influenced by the very west that its doctrinaire communists hope to conquer. I say rotsa ruck to those doctrinaires unless the west itself completely forgets Christianity. Which Donald Trump isn’t permitting the USA to easily do. A God is always more powerful than no God, when the situations meet.
