Trump says newspaper misquoted him on Kim Jung Un, points to audio tape

President Trump on Sunday accused The Wall Street Journal of “falsely” reporting him saying he has a “good relationship” with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and publishing so-called fake news because the newspaper wanted a big story.

“The Wall Street Journal stated falsely that I said to them ‘I have a good relationship with Kim Jong Un’ (of N. Korea). Obviously I didn’t say that. I said ‘I’d have a good relationship with Kim Jong Un,’ a big difference. Fortunately we now record conversations with reporters,” Trump said over two tweets. “And they knew exactly what I said and meant. They just wanted a story. FAKE NEWS!”

Trump also said he has proof that the newspaper mischaracterized his remark because the White House records his interviews with reporters.

Media access should be predicated on accuracy and fairness. If they misquote or mischaracterize, they should lose access for some time.

CNN should lose access for the next 3 years.

It’s about time PRESIDENT TRUMP records his conversations with the press.

“CNN should lose access for the next 3 years.”

CNN shouldn’t have access. They are entertainment, not news.

‘It’s about time PRESIDENT TRUMP records his conversations with the press.”

It’s about time President Trump videotaped every interaction with anyone. He almost would be well-served by a body camera.

It’s about time PRESIDENT TRUMP records his conversations with the press.

Better he just not talk to the press altogether.

I wonder how many OTHER TIMES this has happened. I’ve noted in the past that adding or moving a minor word around often COMPLETELY changes one of Trump’s ‘flubs’ into something that makes perfect sense. I can’t think of any off hand, but I’ll put them down as they come back to me.

I have to admit that I had to listen closely to tell that he said “I’d” instead of “I”. If I had problem hearing the difference then the reporter would have, and he should have made sure before printing.

First time I heard it it was obvious to me he said “I’d“. The context is obvious too. “I’d” have a good relationship if not for the Clinton/Bush/Obama enablers of this madman.
Fake news by WSJ plain and simple.

I listened to it and I don’t even know why it’s in question. He didn’t say “I have a good relationship.. “ or “I’d have a good relationship...”. He said “probably I’d have a good relationship...” In context the use if “I” would make no sense. “Probably I have a good relationship...”? Obviously not what he said or meant.

Yes it is. During the campaign I came to hate the WSJ with it’s Editorials and Columnists. Pretty much all of them led by Brett Stephens, and Karl Rove were Anti-Trumpers.

I would drop my longtime subscription but nothing to change to except Investor’s Business Daily and it doesn’s have the range of articles I like and the WSJ Weekend edition is pretty good, better book review section that the vaunted New York Times Review Section.
