Dennis Kucinich to enter Ohio governor's race on Wednesday

In an email to supporters Thursday morning, former U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich said he planned to announce his candidacy for Ohio governor on Wednesday.

In the email, Kucinich said he plans to unveil his candidacy at the Middleburg Heights Community Center. Andy Juniewicz, a spokesman for Kucinich, said the email was accurate.

The news of Kucinich's impending entry comes days after he designated a treasurer for his campaign. He becomes the sixth Democrat to enter the race. Richard Cordray, former director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and former U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton announced Wednesday they would join forces on a single ticket.

Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper said Kucinich is welcome to join the Democratic primary so long as he participates in the vetting process. He said he has not heard from Kucinich formally.

Kucinich, 71, a former mayor of Cleveland, has not run for office since 2012, when he lost to U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a Democrat from Toledo, after the two were redistricted to face each other. Since then, he has appeared as a frequent contributor on Fox News.

20 years ago they were polar opposites.

There’s isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between them now.

Sports & politics are often compared. But one is natural and the other unnatural.

Sports careers conclude after 20 years, but political careers never end until the grave.

I’d much rather deal with real Democrats like him than the deep state RATS, if necessary.

Kucinich is a goofy liberal. But he’s rare in that he tries to be open-minded. I kinda respect him for that.

Plus he’s got a hot wife.

Ahhh, NO!

Ohio doesn't need the guy who was the Mayor of Cleveland when it went backrupt to bankrupt the State as it's new Governor.

Strange that in 2017, Dennis the Menace comes across more conservative than some Rino’s. Even George McGovern, if alive, would be considered right of center for a Democrat.

Might not be as bad as what they got - but Ohio can do better....my in-laws there went from Dem to rep after Obama’s 1st term and they are a good sample of the average Ohioan...
