GOP congressman declines to challenge Dem senator in North Dakota

Rep. Kevin Cramer, a North Dakota Republican, announced Thursday he will not challenge sitting Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp in the Senate race this fall.

During an interview with KFYR radio, Cramer said he and his family decided the best decision was for him to just run again for his House seat. The move is seen as a blow to Republicans who hope to pick up the seat in the traditionally deep red state.

Cramer's announcement comes after Cramer told CNN last week that President Donald Trump was urging him to run for Senate.

This sucks! Trump really tried to get him to run. Our rare opportunity to get 60 seats is slipping out of our hands. Hopefully we keep the Senate and the House....tough road ahead.

The GOP isn’t even putting up challengers. They may be trying to lose like they did in Alabama so they don’t have to do the impeachment themselves.

The 60-vote threshold is meaningless. The reality is that the Republicans could barely get 51 votes on any transformation piece of legislation even if they had 90 seats in the U.S. Senate.

Almost as if they want to lose.

So true. So frustrating. I think they LOVE being in the minority. I believe it is easier being in the minority when all you have to do is complain. (I’d use the b word but that is frowned upon even though it is more accurate).

The wives seem too be the problem, meanwhile Mitts wife is pushing him to run in Utah.

I think the GOP is intentionally going into the tank, knowing that this will paralyze Trump’s agenda. Once they lose Congress the GOP will rediscover their “courage” and talk wistfully about all the conservative things they could do “if only we controlled Congress and the White House”. It’s a complete and utter charade by the Uniparty’s loveable losers.

The wives have to put up with their husbands cheating left and right. Who can blame them. The way Congress has these families split up because it is so expensive is a crime. Move the capital to Tennessee or somewhere so that families can afford to stay together. Yes aren’t we lucky Romney’s wife is wanting him to run..../sarc.

Yup. With refusals to run and bailouts looming, the second half of the Trump presidency will get even more grid locked than it is now with the republicrats “controlling” both house and senate.

I smell the whiff of large cash payments to any GOP incumbent willing to ride a golden DNC / Soros supplied parachute into retirement.

It frustrates me to no end.

The GOP just doesn’t like being in power.

They would rather be the second class citizen.

I lived in North Dakota until about 20 years ago. As I recall they usually had democrat Senators. Even though it is overall a conservative state, the rural people would vote for the devil himself as long as the farm subsidies kept rolling in.

Like employees who self terminate, this is just term limits and an acknowledgement that the public is smattering up.

Painful but winning. Now the voters have to do their part. Trump got us this far almost entirely alone. Time for us to step up. Send donations to the RNC today.

This seat should be a lay-up for the GOP.

Should have been last time too but Heidi made it. I wouldn’t die of shock if she did it again. GOP sucks.
