Professor defends laziness as a ‘virtue’ that ‘combats the neoliberal condition’
College Fix ^ | January 9, 2018 | Greg Piper

You’d expect the typical progressive to say that calling someone lazy is an ableist slur.

If you’re the department chair of higher education at the University of Denver, on the other hand, being called lazy is a badge of honor.

Why is it that every time I see the word “Professor” I just shake my head and go on to something sensible? I’m in my 80’s, but do remember when the word “Professor” meant a person of distinction. I miss those days.

I’m too lazy to figure out what “postqualitative inquiry” means.

In fact, laziness is “a political stance”

Only when you can depend on a life of free stuff.

Don’t worry about it. This guy’s babble quotient is higher than Maxine Waters’, and that’s saying something.

But they can also use laziness as a weapon against “the dominant power structure” by, for example, housekeepers “completing the minimum required to keep their jobs” to protest “the subjugation of their profession and personhood.”

This is a similar point to my argument that a lot of problems with black unemployment is caused by their culture. Most blacks in the U.S. are descendants of slavery so ask yourself:

Q:How much work did a slave do?

A: As little as possible to avoid being beaten.

And this lack of motivation, i.e., laziness, is still pervasive in black U.S. culture today.

I think maybe he's figured out what I outline in Post #6, but he has to hide it in goofy language so that he doesn't get fired.

Don’t even try. I’m quite certain the esteemed professor used the Educational Jargon Generator. This fine tool allows you to generate educational phrases that sound impressive, but in reality are complete nonsense.

Here’s just one random example: We will repurpose social contructivist growth mindsets with synergistic effects.

Use the Generator once, and you’ve got a fancy phrase. Use it 100 times, and you’ve got a thesis for a PhD in Education.

but do remember when the word “Professor” meant a person of distinction.

Totally.

Now it just means somebody that spent their entire life in school and got through the easiest gobblygook curriculm and has no idea how the real world works cause they never participated in it and is less than average on the normal human being scale and also never learned about run on sentences.

Professor Bagster.

The professor’s argument and language strike me as incoherent. However, I believe that “laziness” can be a good thing if it means finding the most efficient way to accomplish a task while expending the least effort. Working harder than you need to doesn’t make much sense to me.

“I’m too lazy to figure out what “postqualitative inquiry” means.”

I don’t know what that means, but back in my lab days, we used to do a lot of “post-quantitative inquiry”.

That just meant that after crunching all the numbers from the experiments, we tried to figure out what they meant.

I'm 74 and I've been saying exactly the same thing. The word 'professor' has come to mean KOOK to me.
