The way I read the story at the link, she was with her boss, the Congressman at the base.
I have to tell you, if the guy rose to the rank of General and said either of those things to a Congressman’s staff person, he acted improperly and foolishly.
I have dealt with congressional and executive branch review visits to military bases and frequently they are rehearsed the day before because no one wants a foolish misstep to dislocate attention from what the military wants to show the reviewing official.
If a Wing Commander or a Unit Commander did such a thing when the base commander was not at the tour, his head would roll, so the misstep shows a real problem.

She was merely one staffer with a group of about 10 others. The Congressfool wasn’t there.
In a social setting, no.
But this was a congressional staffer who obviously felt more entitled to respect than she deserved.
He made a choice, and now feels the repercussions thereof.

I am 73 and I want to know why everywhere I go now women are calling ME “Baby” or “Sugar”. I work a part time job and my neighbor who is the same age as I am works with me, they call him the same things. It doesn’t make me want to sue them or anything but it just seems rather like a new fad or something.
