This is a year and a half old. What brought it to post? Has something consequential happened lately, related to the old rift?

The source briefed by people close to Pompeo said one of them was uneasy about Pompeo speaking with the outcast former Breitbart News chairman, who sought to forge links with various European nationalists after being scorned by Trump.

Accept the apology graciously, and keep him at arm’s length. His outrageous statements about N. Korea undermined the POTUS’ agenda. He is not to be trusted, any more than Scaramouch. Once you’re out, you’re out, apologies or none.
His brother Race is a lousy baby-sitter, too. How many times can two skinny boys and a dog get away from him and nearly get killed.
Bannon (imho) is cut of the same independent and commanding cloth as Trump, is just as articulate and can be eloquent. His words often carry the weight of a jack hammer he’s so convincing, one on one. Like Trump, these talents also can get him in trouble. Even with Trump.
They were probably too much alike for a close setting, in the executive wing of White House and with Trump’s kiddies running around under Bannon’s feet. lol.

What is interesting is Trump recently tweeted a link to a Bannon story and complimented him, as if there was no rift at all.
Some believe there has been some sort of complicated espionage activity, with the left on one side trying to frame Trump for colluding with the Russians using espionage techniques, and Trump and company trying to use the legal machinery with intelligence techniques to rebuff the assault and then counter with a legal case for treason for subverting our elections using our intelligence apparatus.
Maybe I am too conspiratorial, but this old article could be reminding people Bannon ostensibly told Mueller how easy it would be to crack Don Jr, and we now know that was totally false.
I wonder if Bannon was doing that on Trump’s orders to put Mueller on a wild goose chase, and this popping up wasn’t an accident, but rather was designed to reveal to some of the narrative-makers here that was all a tactical misdirection done for Trump, and not a mistake by Bannon. Truth is Trump never really buried Bannon.
The timing is curious, given Trump just tweeted out that tweet that was so positive for Bannon. Maybe Bannon is coming back.
It’s not that admitting a mistake to liberals is just a humiliating weakness. It is that liberals never forgive and then the long knives come out.
All that’s for certain is Steve Bannon left the White House, and went to work for Trump and for Trump’s issues, the southern border, plenty of it accomplished in Europe, Poland and London, supporting Brexit. He’s nearly just as active in his faith, being on the right side of the issues held against, and the direction of, the Catholic Church.
He’s virtually everywhere, doing something big or meaningful, both nationally and internationally. He looks better, not haggard and ill kept, He’s cleaned up, groomed and styled, he looks clear eyed and much happier.
