With Sen. John McCain in the twilight of his career, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee sees a coming void in the Trump era.

As he's expressed his desire to join the U.S. Senate, Mitt Romney has privately revealed that a driving purpose of his service would be to emulate a former rival and fellow foiled Republican presidential nominee: Sen. John McCain.

"There's got to be somebody who can stand up to the president," Romney told members of the Utah congressional delegation in recent weeks, according to a person with knowledge of his comments. "Who's going to stand up to Trump?"

McCain, Romney and Kasich are the most odious men in the republican party.

And with McCain dying, the anti-conservative Establishment wants to get Romney and Kasich into the Senate, not, you'll note, to HELP a republican president, but to THWART him.

Disgusting!

I thought Chuckie’s job was to “stand up” to Trump??? Why does the GOP-e think it’s their job?

Given how liberal Trump has been in the past, Mitt is with the CPUSA.

Someone has to promote jihadist militias backed up by US military power as the solution to problems in the world like happened in Syria.

A lot of noise against Syria’s allies like Russia and Iran right now and who’s gonna help the Muslims in Myanmar where a terrorist group fights the government.

I can’t stand the sight of this jackass - his face is almost as repugnant as Hitlery’s or obama’s. When he ran fro prez he boasted as being the one that helped get Staples going. Every time I get office supplies there I think of him. I think I’ll go elsewhere from now on.

Trump should remind America how Romney went to Trump Tower THREE times sucking up and begging to be Trump’s Secretary of State.

Mitt will doubtless encourage a plethora of Republican candidates in the primary. Mitt will have name recognition and money. The remaining candidates will split the vote leaving Mitt on top.

To fully emulate McFailure, he’d have to be the bottom of his class in university, pretend to fly plans only to crash them, be a compete buttwipe and demonstrate his lack of morality and convictions hourly.

He does have one thing in common with the buttwipe, he’d be nowhere had he not had a father of influence. So, he’s a male Hillary - would be serving drinks at a bar had it not been for someone with actual ability backing him up.

Unfit Mitt....love it.

Romney folded for whatever reason on Presidential election. He was winning up to and including that first debate with Obama, who was obviously strung out on coke. Then, bam, he went downhill. Just like McCain, he folded as well. I still believe Obama had dirt on both of them.

I hope some responsible LDS officials realize that Mittens will set back the Mormons ecumenical outreach efforts by decades. It wasn’t that long ago that Mormons were considered an outright cult and a cultural aberration. Unless the church is planning an acute left turn to replace the conservatives, they are going to alienate many conservatives who currently have a positive, or at least tolerant, view of the LDS.

I think that Romney is about as liberal, maybe more so than McCain, but he is more loyal to the GOP than McCain.

Exactly!
He knows any movement upward from Senator is doomed.
Like McMuffin, he is ONLY there to create problems for Trump and the GOP.
