It is not a formal requirement for the job in the sense that there is a legal obligation for the president to appoint a lawyer as AG. But somebody who was not a lawyer or at least didn't have a law degree and in fact a long history of practice, would find the job virtually impossible, since with the AG is supposed to do is to oversee the Department of Justice, which is responsible for enforcing many of our most fundamental laws. And without that kind of background, a person would not be able to perform the functions of the position.

Nunes wouldn’t be qualified but Holder, Lynch and Sessions are? Maybe a non lawyer is precisely what we need to clean up the rat’s nest that DOJ has become. Of course with the reasoning people are using Trump has no business as president. Trump has no political or DC experience so therefore unqualified. Right.
