HEAR IT: Eliot Spitzer chides blackmailer in alleged profanity-filled recording (WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE)

A woman who says she carried on a longtime affair with disgraced former Gov. Eliot Spitzer told police she has the pervy pol on tape berating and threatening her, and the NYPD is investigating her allegation.

Svetlana Zakharova Travis and her attorney met with NYPD detectives Friday to discuss the 18-second recording, according to police sources and her lawyer.

Travis — who was accused of blackmailing Spitzer — found the clip after she was released from jail in October, her lawyer said.

In the sound snippet, a man — identified as Spitzer by Travis’ lawyer Joseph Murray — is heard slamming the 27-year-old Russian woman.

“You f---ing b----. You piece of s---. And then you f---ing destroy my life!” a man’s voice is heard seething.

“You know what’s going to happen to you? You’re going to be f---ing dead,” he went on.

“You’re going to die a slow, painful death and your family is going to look at you and laugh because you’re a f---ing b----.”

Police sources say the expletive-laced phone call from February 2016 came to their attention about a week ago and they’re probing it as a possible aggravated harassment case.

“We met with these detectives today and they’ve assured us that we’ll receive a full and fair investigation,” Murray told the Daily News on Friday.

The nasty sound bite was recorded days after Travis reported that the prostitute-paying ex-politician choked her at the Plaza Hotel on Feb. 13, 2016, Murray said.

Authorities are now investigating the authenticity of the clip — from a speaker-phone chat — and the circumstances surrounding the recording.

The call allegedly transpired while Travis was in Russia.

Spitzer has repeatedly denied the claims and the Bronx District Attorney’s office — who took over the case when Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. recused himself — declined to bring charges in the alleged hotel assault.

The investigation turned instead to Travis, who was accused of shaking down the scandal-ridden horndog.

The News could not independently confirm the authenticity of the call.

“The original and full recording of Eliot Spitzer’s death threat to my client is contained on my client’s iPad, which has been in police custody since October of 2016,” Murray told the News.

Murray said the original file, a longer version, may be recovered from Travis’s iPad. The device was not returned to her at the conclusion of her case by the Bronx DA.

The lawyer said similar deleted recordings may also exist and that Spitzer knew about them because Travis emailed him the files, demanding he stop making threats.

He said the DA’s office refused to take Travis’s repeated reports that Spitzer was abusive.

“The Bronx District Attorney’s Office either knew, or reasonably should have known of its existence as well as other recorded death threats made by Eliot Spitzer, even before I entered the case to defend Ms. Travis.”

After Travis reported the alleged manhandling, Spitzer told investigators Travis had been shaking him down for years.

Travis was arrested for grand larceny in October 2016 and took a misdemeanor plea deal to settle the $400,000 case last October.

She did not have to admit to the Spitzer theft, though, only to attempting to swindle another man.

“This is a woman who has been extorting Mr. Spitzer and his family for years. The record in her criminal case speaks for itself,” Spitzer’s attorney Adam Kaufmann said.

Murray referred to Spitzer in his recent filing as his client’s “long-time lover” and described the democrat’s penchant for kinky trysts with sex toys and role playing using leashes.

Travis was pressured into signing a settlement agreement with Spitzer and agreed to “destroy any and all recordings of Mr. Spitzer,” according to court records.

Murray said his client complied and trashed the iPad files but believes there is hope of reviving them.

The DA’s office “either took no steps to recover these recordings, or they intentionally failed to disclose them,” Murray said.

Bronx DA spokeswoman Patrice O'Shaughnessy responded, “We are under a court imposed gag order, as is Ms. Travis and her defense attorney. We won't violate the gag order by commenting on evidence. Our investigation continues.”

Spitzer resigned as governor in 2008 after being embroiled in a sex scandal.

Called “Client 9” in court papers, Spitzer was caught on a federal wiretap trying to arrange an assignation with a high-priced hooker.

The minute you say ‘Russian’....the chances of a blackmail experience goes up 100-percent. In a New York court, with a jury sitting...I don’t think her odds of winning are worth discussing. They will side with Spitzer.

If there ever was a pair of pictures that said "hooker and client" - it is these:

It is a portrait of the corruption of the DemonRATs. It is hard to imagine that New York elected this pathetic POS for their governor. To think that New York voters passed up John Faso Jr for Spitzer—a man not worth the spit in a toilet—is beyond me.

To be fair I can't agree about the woman. If I saw her on the street, I'd think nothing more about it.

And $5000 a night??? Ummm, no.

I think you are wrong here. spitzer is a thoroughly distasteful individual who has hidden behind his money. He is long overdue for a legal comeuppance.

I don’t think that was a specific threat.

He had it all. Including a beautiful wife who is mother to his children and is said to be a truly nice person.

They are divorced now.

And the call girl he got caught with from the original scandal is not even as attractive as his now ex-wife.

Nevertheless, she’s probably getting at least one paying customer a night. Otherwise, she’d drop the price a bit.

For far too many people in the world, instead of "something being worth what someone is willing to pay for it", their psychology seems wrapped around the idea that "something that costs more MUST be better, and that makes ME better!" Brand name items carry price tags many times higher, for no greater utility or quality. A Burberry scarf goes for $480. The basic Louis Vuitton purses go for $800. If we go to the really high end, there are handbags that go for six figures.

Prostitutes (sexual or political or journalistic) can charge anything they want. The main "trick" (pun intended) for the sex worker is finding enough of those buyers (and at those prices, 1 can often be enough) who have deluded themselves into thinking the experience is any better or safer (from disease or extortion) than the usual $200 escorts, simply because of the asking price.

Or at least enough where she’s good for $. Even just 30 nights a year - or once every two weeks roughly - is $150k.
