Black Guns Matter, a Second Amendment education group with an urban focus, will be featured in and sponsoring SHOT Show, the largest gun show in the world.
Maj Toure founded Black Guns Matter in 2015. The group is focused on providing Second Amendment education and information to urban communities that are plagued by violence.
“I don’t think there’s a black gun culture or white gun culture,” Toure says on the group’s website. “I think there’s an informed gun culture and an ignorant gun culture.”
In their December feature on black gun ownership, Toure told The Huffington Post why gun ownership and education has become so important to him.
“Guys in my neighborhood would get drunk and shoot their guns into the air on New Year’s Eve,” Toure recounted. “Bullets come down though, number one. Number two, you’re wasting ammo. And number three, that’s just not responsible. I had uncles who were in Desert Storm, I got uncles who were in Vietnam. And seeing their understanding of firearms and how they carried themselves, I immediately had what to do and what not to do.”

It's OK for him to say this, one would suppose, however the blacks I've shared the range with at the couple of places where I go shooting were responsible people just like everyone else.
Maybe they're charter members of #BGM?

You never hear news reports of forty people shot over the weekend (every weekend) in predominantly white neighborhoods, just sayin...
I think his point, and a valid one, is that there isn’t black and white gun culture divided by race, there is informed and ignorant gun culture, divided by knowledge...meaning you can be informed on guns regardless of race...or ignorant on guns regardless of race.
I think that is a pretty sound statement.
I’ve read other interviews with Maj Toure. He seems like a genuinely good guy - and he is just about the only one out there doing what he is doing. My hat is off to him.
if it was up to me, i’d deputize everyone in the ghettos and loan them a free gun as long as they passed all the background checks, had a clean record, and were willing to successfully undertake rigorous training for the position. In fact, i’d offer a stipend as well.
Thousands of deputies like that would snuff out the violent crime quicker than anything else i can imagine.
There is an indoor range in Bridgeport Connecticut.
Go there. Tell me what you see. It’s better than the local outdoor range, which is just the streets of Bridgeport CT but it’s still mightily dangerous inside.

Anyway good on this guy, it sounds like his intentions are good.
Most large black communities are in democrat run cities - areas with strong ‘gun control’ laws. Think of them as VERY LARGE gun free zones.
You know bk1000, the kinds of zones where only the criminals have guns. If the black community allows good citizens to have guns - and NOT just the thugs in the black community, a lot of those innocent deaths will stop.
The Haitian paramilitaries were there to snuff out political opposition to the dictatorship. They were a gang, something like the Antifa people, but more violent.
Law abiding citizens protecting the residents of their neighborhoods from violent thugs would be the opposite of that. Do you see the difference?

I am not wishing for the deaths of anyone, but if the current situation continues, a lot of people are going to get killed anyway.
I would rather at least some portions of the armed thugs are killed outright. Wouldn’t it be great to see crime statistics decline in some of these blighted areas, because law abiding citizens in those areas decided they had enough of being sheep...
