Analysts say the escalation has the potential to destabilize an already fragile security situation in Gaza, the Palestinian enclave that Hamas has controlled for the past decade. How do you destabilize that which is not stable? It seems to me this is like worrying about someone throwing a lit match into the middle of a a raging California Wild fire.

Destabilize Gaza and the Sinai? That's a worry? Gaza and the Sinai will be stabilized when Israel invades, with conviction, from the north. Or Egypt from the West. Or both. Israel can clean up Gaza with an Egyptian anvil on the south while Egypt cleans up the Sinai with an Israeli anvil along the border. "Peacekeepers" in the Sinai can go to one of the beach resorts for the duration.
