Trump Slump? 2017 Second Biggest Year Ever For Gun Sales
The Truth About Guns ^ | 01/03/18 | ohn Boch

Posted on 01/03/2018 10:53:20 AM PST by Simon Green

The FBI has released the final numbers for 2017 gun sales. While 2016’s sales record of 27 million still stands, last year’s 25,235,215 comes in second by a mere eight percent. While the mainstream media claimed a steep decline in firearm sales, those fake news reports proved nothing more than wishful thinking. From the Washington Post (where Democracy dies in darkness):

BOSSIER CITY, La. — Sales of guns and ammunition in the United States have dropped precipitously since Election Day, according to FBI statistics, trade groups, gun shop owners and corporate reports, what many say is the result of electing a president who has vowed to protect gun rights.

Sales of guns and ammunition dropped precipitously? If eight percent is a precipitous drop, what does the Washington Post consider the 17 percent loss of Democrats in the US Senate under Barack Obama? Or the 24 percent fewer Democrats in Congress in that same time?

And speaking of precipitous drops, how about the 48 percent decline in accidental firearms deaths from 1999 to 2015? Doesn’t 48 percent sound a lot closer to ‘precipitous’ than eight percent? The LA Times reports:

Gun violence has received no shortage of attention. But one bright spot has gotten much less: the number of accidental shooting deaths has steadily declined.

There were 489 people killed in unintentional shootings in the U.S. in 2015, the most recent year for which data is available. That was down from 824 deaths in 1999, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Taking into account population growth over that time, the rate fell 48%.

But more guns equals more accidental deaths, according to Harvard’s allegedly vaunted Injury Control Research Center. However, reality doesn’t square with Harvard’s junk science.

From 2000 to 2015, Americans have purchased 216 million guns from dealers. Despite adding all these guns, accidental gun deaths plummeted precipitously 48 percent! Only the Harvard Injury Control Research Center and its doctor of deceit David Hemenway could argue with a straight face that more guns equals more accidental deaths.

Only fools believe fake news. While some companies have struggled, others have flourished, just as with any industry.

It must be because of all the Liberals getting ready for a Civil War. Right?

There’s a lot more liberal violence going on. People will want to protect their homes and families, since the police won’t do it in the more liberal areas.

"We had a record year."

What type of firearm was your top seller? ie. Semi auto pistol, AR style 5.56 rifle or something else?

"I won’t believe it until I can purchase a SCAR for under $1500!!!"

That would be sweet. At my local range you can rent a SCAR 17 to shoot and they are very, very nice. But not quite $2700 nice.

I can't find them for less than $3k. It still baffles me that the DoD refused to adopt them, both the 5.56 and 7.62 variations. Quite a versatile and smooth weapon.

Wow. We’ve finally found one job Obama was better at than Trump is - gun salesman.

I don’t know. We sell lots of handguns, rifles, shotguns of every description.
We had a pallet stacked 5 feet high with Ruger AR-556s before Christmas, sold every one of them. $499, it was good deal.

That is certainly contributing to the sales figures. I have a communist family member up north that posted pictures on facebook of he and his friends practicing with the rifles they recently purchased (looked like they were all Ruger .22’s). It was quite shocking to see as he was froth at the mouth antigun during the Obama regime.

"Quite a versatile and smooth weapon."

I was impressed how a rifle as light as the SCAR 17 could have such little recoil for a 308 round. I am assuming they are as easy to field strip and clean as an AR platform, but I can't say that from personal experience.

They’re made of plastic, too light so The Recoil impluse breaks all the Optics, and it was heavily Lobby by FN and a bunch of DC lobbyists to the DoD. It was never ever tested or approved by Socom operators... there is a story out there of a command master chief when asked to test some of the first scar 16s, he broke it over his knee in the wardroom and handed it back and goes “I think you better make this thing a little tougher, my life depends on it” ... That’s why it was rejected.

Sure it was. The SCAR was selected in 2004 out of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Combat Assault Rifle Program. The Mk 16, Mk 17, and Mk 13 were officially designated as operationally effective (OE), operationally suitable (OS), and sustainable as a result of a 5-week Field User Assessment conducted by operational SOCOM forces in late 2008. These SCAR variants began fielding in April 2009. On 4 May 2010, a press release on FN America's official website announced the SCAR Acquisition Decision Memorandum was finalized on 14 April 2010, moving the SCAR program to the Milestone C phase. This was an approval for the entire weapons family of the SCAR-L, SCAR-H, and the Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module. The Mk 16 has a rate of fire of 625 rounds per minute (RPM)and the Mk 17 has a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute. This was done to improve the control during fully automatic fire. In late October 2010 SOCOM approved full-rate production of the Mk 20 sniper variant of the SCAR, with fielding beginning in mid-May 2011.

Once we saw the “RESIST!” movement, we knew it wasn’t over. Buy guns and ammo, and buy a lifetime supply for the whole family now. If you don’t then what you do have will be a lifetime supply - but for a shorter lifetime.
