Skip to comments.Kyrie Irving, Nike double down on spreading flat-Earth ignorance
Posted on 01/03/2018 8:41:16 AM PST by Simon Green
Kyrie Irving appears to seriously believe the world is flat. Or if he doesnt, he takes some sort of twisted joy in pretending that he does.
And now he has Nike on board, spreading ignorance to impressionable youth. First, Nike gave him a flat-Earth cameo in this Christmas day commercial promoting his new kicks.
Now theres this monstrosity on display at Bostons Sneakeasy sneaker event.
That is a Kyrie 4 hovering over some sort of Nike-sanctioned display purportedly explaining Irvings nonsense theory. Feel free to reach your own interpretation.
Surely, Nike sees this as all fun and games and an opportunity to cash in on an Internet meme.
But spreading ignorance is not OK. Theres entirely too much misinformation available in this world as is.
Marketing shoes to a largely young target demographic with false science as a hook is not clever or funny. Its irresponsible.

If you think the earth is flat - you deserve to think the earth is flat...
I honestly think the whole flat earth thing is an experiment to prove the “dangerous” power of the internet to convince people of things that are false.
The results can then be used to “police” what people are allowed to say on the internet, for the “good” of our civilization.
I recall Joe Rogan was pushing this on his youtube show. He may have backed off, I’m not sure. Where, though, did this nonsense come from?
Kyrie is playing everyone for publicity. Some are apparently very willing to go along.
If he is stupid enough to believe the earth is flat, then how did he get into Duke???
Oh, yeah...He played basketball for Coach K...
That says enough....
Everybody chill; this is harmless.
Huh? I was told ... authoritatively ... RIGHT HERE ON THIS FORUM ... that it was turtles all the way down.
Now you want me to believe it’s only one turtle?
Hah! You can’t fool ME!
> Kyrie is playing everyone for publicity. <
“There is no such thing as bad publicity.”
P. T. Barnum
... there ain't no Sanity Clause!
The earth is not flat, but I don’t care if these people do.
It’s an example of Sophistry, the ancient Greek practice of arguing an erroneous position, merely for the sake of displaying how skilled one is at arguing.
Zeno did it in the famous Zeno’s Paradox.
That’s the ticket! A giant turtle and elephants.
Any stoop knows that if the world was round, all the water would slide off
He is a jock
he is ignorant by definition
Gee, are these folks Democrat voters, or Republican voters?
If you think the earth is flat - you deserve to think the earth is flat.... That is the quotation of the day!
Around these parts we had a radio promo for Plummet Mall. The radio ads were part of a campaign to build awareness and buzz about a subterranean mall.
“the best value in town is a hole in the ground.”
...built straight down underground” where “continuously moving walkways and spiral escalators take you conveniently from value to value.”
But we didnt have a concern troll like the articles author. What a sanctimonious @$$. So we had a good laugh.
I know it’s round. Been up high enough in an F4 to see the curvature.
