California's 2018 Ammo Restrictions Act as Backdoor Gun Ban
newsmax ^ | Jan 02, 2018 | John Cylc

Posted on 01/03/2018 1:12:43 AM PST by Oshkalaboomboom

This morning on Facebook, I saw a post from a Walmart store stating that due to administrative delays by the state of California, they are temporarily unable to sell ammunition.

On January 1, a new California law took effect requiring all ammunition to only be sold in person, and only through a licensed vendor. The law required the Department of Justice to implement new regulations before July 2017. However, those regulations were delayed and will likely not take effect until mid-January at the earliest. That means there is now a gap in which law-abiding citizens cannot buy ammunition from many California vendors. Their Second Amendment rights have been restricted by the state. The “right to keep and bear arms” means nothing without ammo. That is a “backdoor” gun ban. That is called “tyranny,” even if it is only temporary and due to bureaucratic incompetency.

This now appears to be the method that liberals will use to attack our inherent natural rights that they oppose. California has written and passed law after law restricting gun rights for its law-abiding citizens. The state government, politicians, and liberal voters have somehow failed to comprehend that these laws will have no effect on criminals who ignore them anyway.

Murderers, robbers, terrorists, and other miscreants will still use their illegal and illicit methods of getting guns and ammo. In the meantime, the “good guys with guns” will be fighting bureaucratic battles and anti-gun administrators.

In one county with a population of over 10 million, only 197 citizens have been issued concealed carry.

Even with a POTUS who supports law-abiding armed citizens there are still government officials who want to take our rights away.

It's CA. At this point, anyone still living there is asking for it.

There are a lot of decent people who, for a variety of reasons, will not leave the People’s Republic of California and think they cannot leave. This could get extraordinarily ugly.

It’s worse.

I was at Big-5 and the kid who was helping me with a knife purchase can’t sell me ammo until he goes to get some license.

He could sell me ammo on December 31 but, when. I saw him on New Years Day he was no lomgerbable to sell ammo.

The guy who could sell me ammo, from Big-5, had left an hour earlier.

I left with my knife purchase but, no ammo...

Stupid...

If I were ammo manufacturers, I’d just give up on sales to California and same with guns, to make it painful for California LEO.

Just boycott this state.

Well as long as all the illegals, criminals, and MS-13 and other gang bangers are protected, aided, and abetted by the Cali pols then everything is just fine. Right?

Do I really need to add the /s?

Counting the days until the people of Cali have had enough and revolt just like in Iran right now.

It sounds like business opportunity to open up a gun and ammo shop just on the other side of the border.

Fine, so long as they know they're like Christians in Pakistan.

Are you some sort of moron? It is so boring to read $hit like this. Go play on the freeway somewhere! If you had a brain, you’d be dangerous. Thankfully, you don’t!

I read previously the law was in place because no one had standing to go to court. Odd since no one was ready to implement the law. Surely dealers had standing?!

And now that it is in place, has anyone sued?

Everything about this stinks and there is zero discussion about it beyond passing mention it went into affect.

The stat that only 197 concealed permits were issued among millions of people is really telling that the 2nd amendment is not respected in California, just 5 miles from my house in Nevada. Sad.

They’d charge you with selling illegally to a Californian since Californians are no longer allowed to purchase out of state and bring back. Figure we’ll next see this added to those agricultural harassment checkpoints the state has up on roads into the state.

California is a US state supposedly governed by the US Constitution. 2nd Amendment is part of that. Shame it stops at the border, denying Californians and all US citizens the same rights I have as a Nevada resident and US citizen.

Again, a day passed and no court stopping this?! Why not?

I don’t think California can be charged with breaking California law.

Hey, it is a US state and should be same constitutional protection. I no longer live in California, haven't since 1985 but that doesn't lessen my concern and objection. Leaving shouldn't be necessary, just throw out the laws, courts should invalidate them as violating everyone's constitutional rights.

A bit funny they just approved regulations Tuesday AFTER the law went into affect. Another telling point that all of this is to ban guns.

Problem is, CA no longer considers itself to be a state: hence, sanctuary statehood. I left in '92 and never looked back, except with scorn.

Every California highway border crossing has a police post that SEARCHES incoming cars, with the intent of confiscating fruits and veggies that could contaminate their agriculture. They have been getting away with it for 80 years, that I know of. I would imagine that prohibition would now extend to any white, US citizens, who have purchased ammunition...

Nuke Sacramento from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

One of the many reasons I left NY was the Safe Act and the pert of the Act that was most distasteful was the inability to buy ammo by mail order. It could be done but you needed to find an ffl to handle it and they charged from $15 to $50 to do the transaction. It made ammo much more expensive.
