I think you put far too much faith in Rauner. Indeed, I expect for the “sake of comity” he will sign whatever lines are sent to him by the Democrat legislature.

You’d have told me 20 years ago to cast a vote for our execrable RINO Sundquist for the same reasons (which I was proud to vote against him for the colorful Democrat Populist and Constitutionalist John Jay Hooker instead). I’ll remind you that this wonderful fella, when it came time for redistricting, decided to submit a plan that gave the Democrats a supermajority (despite the fact they only got a minority of the vote statewide by then) and put a dozen or so GOP members into half as many seats.

In fact, the plan was so audacious, so incredibly anti-Republican (explicitly targeting Conservative members who worked to stop his unconstitutional income tax plan) that the hyper-partisan Democrat Speaker, who stood to gain enormously from it, refused to support it because it would’ve been open civil war for years with the GOP members. He instead passed a status quo bill, under which whose lines would elect a GOP majority before the end of the decade.

Now I’m not suggesting Rauner would be that vindictive, but I see no evidence he would be of any help to the party come 2021/22, basing it solely on partisan loyalty.

Actually, Husted ended his run and is serving as the running mate to RINO Atty Gen Mike DeWine. Mary Taylor, the Lt Governor, who was left politically for dead by Pig Vomit, is running for Governor as well. Here’s hoping she and DeWine divide the establishment vote and allow Congressman Jim Renacci to plow through to the nomination.

I thought Pritzker was favored to win the Dem nod. Randy Stufflebeam is running on the Constitution ticket, so I’d vote/endorse him if Rauner beats Ives in the primary.

Mike DeWine is the dumbest GOPe bastard ever to serve.

I can’t put “too much faith” in Rauner, given that I have no faith in him at all. But I do have faith that whichever Democrat is elected governor of IL would sign the most uproariously partisan Democrat gerrymander into law. And I trust RINOs to tell Rauner to veto such redistricting plan.

How Sundquist, who had a fairly conservative record in Congress, morphed into a full-blown RINO in the governorship is one of the great mysteries of American politics.

Sundquist is using his political capital *snort* to work to elect rich leftist RINO open borders buffoon La Raza Randy Boyd (as is Haslam, if covertly). Our Democrat ex-Mayor Karl “Marx” Dean (the presumed nominee for them) is hoping that the GOP is stupid enough to run Boyd so he can get angry Conservative votes, even though they’re both as left wing. If Boyd is the nominee, I’ll vote 3rd party.

He does.

On second thought, he is undisputedly the dumbest looking GOPe. Mr. Magoo at his best.

Hmm. So De Wine will be the guy. Solid on pro-life, weak on guns and an environmental weenie.

DeWine has the solid, firm dependability of diarrhea. Renacci should utterly destroy this turd. Ohio hasn’t elected a Conservative Governor since Jim Rhodes won his last term in 1978, and it’s well past time to elect another.

Nominate a loser like DeWine, and folks better get used to saying “Governor Richard Cordray.”

I hope GOP got a candidate vs Lupinski. Or Art Jones, Nazi, will be nominee. Did anyone file?
